Local Library export yes, but where to import?
« on: October 23, 2026, 12:38:13 PM »
As described in the subject line: How can I import a previously exported library into another (or a new) library?
I cannot find a way to do this.

The local library plug-in currently only supports importing supported files / playlists / folders / existing local library db file imports. If you don't have the existing local library db to use (typically in the settings folder of a prior wacup install) then any custom metadata from it isn't going to be able to be re-added via the other options that otherwise exist for import.

At some point I need to add a means to support importing the exported csv file that the export action is able to generate which would then fill the gap that exists from not having an equivalent to what winamp did with it's xml based import / export feature.

Hi Dro,

I wanted to import an existing local library db.
Export the local library is done by a .csv file.
For the import there's no option or path/file "invalid".

Can you please describe how to do the import?

You go to the media library window -> library button -> import -> import legacy (external) local library database -> change the folder browser to be the location of a different wacup install settings folder or where you've got a backup of the wacup local library db files to import (i.e. having made copies of the library.dat/library.idx or the older main.dat/main.idx from an old wacup or winamp install) & as long as it finds what it's looking for then the import action will be enabled. If it doesn't enable the import button then it's not finding what's needed. That's all that there is for getting all of the metadata from an existing local library instance until I get around to adding a csv import mode.
