[FIXED] Bug - Some streams plays extremely slow
« on: October 23, 2026, 09:25:24 AM »
I found several streams playing in "slow motion" in most recent Wacup builds.

One example: https://ice24.securenetsystems.net/WVCO

Server info says:

Server: Icecast 2.4.0-kh8
Stream Name: Streaming by Securenet Systems Cirrus(R)
Content Type: audio/aacp
Bitrate: 32 kbps, Channels: 1
Samplerate: 44100 Hz
Metadata Interval: 16000

Version tested: 1.99.55.25130
Windows 10 Pro

Tried to play this stream with other player (web and Potplayer) and no issues, when played with Wacup, it was playing slooooow.... :)
Originally found this stream from here: https://www.radio.net/s/949thesurffm

Finding stream which acts like this with Wacup is not easy but find atleast two so far.

Testing with the current 1.99.56.25346 build there's a small mismatch between what the stream is reporting as it's channel count from the connection header vs what the aac decoder is reporting with some of the initial frames. That's causing it to do some output setup based on it being a stereo stream whereas those initial frames are making it treat things as mono which is why the playback rate isn't correct for it.

I need to do a bit more testing but I'm planning on providing a post-release update for the in_url plug-in which should resolve this problem (it'll either appear as an OS toast prompt or can be manually triggered via Preferences -> About|Updates -> About tab once it's available).

The new in_url plug-in has now been put up as a post-release update for the 25346 build which should make that stream play correctly along with a fix for shoutcast style stream metadata not being handled correctly if it's too long which should resolve a number of streams previously not being able to play or would briefly play & then it'd end up doing nothing due to it not correctly adjusting the output buffers.

Tested with 25346 build, still "slow motion", some example streams to test with:

http://ice41.securenetsystems.net/WDGY

http://ice7.securenetsystems.net:80/WLWL

I cannot replicate it with the post-release updates applied against the current build 25346 per the instructions on how to get it from my initial reply.

I found one more station which still plays in "slow motion", looks like this securenetsystems uses some tech which causes wacup to act strange:

https://ice10.securenetsystems.net/KZND Slow motion, also audio is somewhat broken

http://ice10.securenetsystems.net/LUXOMP3 This plays well and it comes from same node as this slow motion stream.
http://ice8.securenetsystems.net:80/WTZNAM Plays ok and different node
https://ice23.securenetsystems.net/KBUF also plays just fine

This slow motion problem occures only on that platform, every other steam I have, plays perfect.

Thank you so much for your quick help!

It isn't reporting the expected header information which is the first part of the problem & it's then doing like the previous ones that weren't behaving where there's a mismatch of mono & stereo data according to what the aac decoder is reporting back. It looks like that one after the first few audio frames plays as mono so I've got a check in place for that type of behaviour which looks like it'll work without causing the other streams to break.
