Hello...
I had Waccup (WACUP Preview 1.99.47.23960 (x86)) runing on my ubuntu machine through wine. And when I tried to update to the new preview 1.99.57.25452 x86 installer crashes under wine.
Environment
- Linux: Ubuntu 26.04.1 LTS, x86_64
- Wine 10.0 (Ubuntu package 10.0~repack-12ubuntu1), which runs only in WoW64 mode, in a 64-bit (win64) prefix
- Also reproduced with Wine-GE 8-26 (Lutris build)
- Installer: WACUP_Preview_v1_99_57_25452_x86.exe (MD5 54d96b9dab3480c9cdcff6c547bcd1ec)
- Portable install: /S /IAGREE /PORTABLE /D=c:\WACUP. Also fails when run by WACUP's built-in updater.
Has a software development myself I tried to analyse the error log and with claude help I got the following:
- The installer writes about 35 files, then stops after extracting Plugins\in_mp3.dll and Plugins\in_mp3.patch.
- Plugins\in_mp3.dll.patched is created with 0 bytes, and the installer exits with code 5.
- The install is left half-updated, with an unpatched in_mp3.dll.
- On Wine 10 it crashes with: Unhandled page fault on execute access to 77ABA1A0
- +loaddll shows the installer loads c:\WACUP\Winamp.dll (at 0x77980000), unloads it, and then runs code at an address inside it. That address is no longer valid once the DLL is unloaded.
The 1.99.47.23960 x86 installer, with the same Wine and prefix, install without problems.
This maybe a problem of my enviroment, but i tough it was good to report. I reverted to the working version so I can continue to use WACUP.
