Global hotkey for playlist search (J)
« on: August 20, 2026, 10:45:52 AM »
There's a slight annoyance with the global hotkey for playlist search (default key: j). When pressed using a 2nd monitor, the cursor is placed between the monitors causing all windows to go invisible. I checked latest winamp (5.666) to see why it didn't have this problem and it's because it places the cursor at "Jump to file" instead of the window itself or between the monitors.

Can this be fixed without causing trouble?

I really don't get what it is that you're trying to describe especially the part about "the cursor is placed between the monitors causing all windows to go invisible". I also need to know what wacup version, build type & skin is being used.

I'm using latest version and default classic skin - don't know what you mean by build type. There's a 'cursor glitch' when using J (for search). It does something.. for me, it places the cursor at the lower right corner. On windows, you can hover/click here to make all windows invisible (you only see the outlines).. that's where the cursor goes whenever J is pressed and the mouse pointer doesn't hover the playlist window. That hover is the issue, it seems. Something else than the search window becomes active with a "J press" if the mouse pointer doesn't hover the playlist.

Build type as in the x86 or x64 type of wacup. Though I doubt it matters & assume that you've got different dpi settings between the 2 monitors & it's the caret position that you're referring to which isn't being correctly dpi adjusted.

[edit]
If I'm seeing what I think you're describing then I don't see the issue happen all of the time but it looks like if I change when I tell the OS to not mess with the skinned form of the jtfe window when it comes to DPI scaling to a bit earlier on in the window loading process it seems to resolve the problem I'm seeing.
