Thanks for replying.

The ATF was working fine on v1_99_44_23410_x86, but went wonky on January's build. I don't know if the length of the playlist matters or not (it was almost 2k in songs). The problem may have been about illegal characters, since almost all the songs were from youtube (converted through 4k Video Downloader+), and you know what weird funky characters/emojis get added to titles on YT. But that same playlist was fine on 23410 though.

I'll play through my other playlists over the coming days and see if any of them are alright. Will report back the results.

Hi, all. Thanks for the great work on this, DrO et al.

There seems to be a bug in the latest Jan 12 Preview Build with regards to the titles displayed on the Playlist Editor. I don't know if it's because I improperly formatted it. This is what I have.

[%album% - ][%track% - ]$if2(%title%,$filepart(%filename%))
And it seems to work, but then, a few hours later, I get a bunch of Syntax errors showing in my Playlist Editor,

and when I go into preferences, I see that the ATF string has been cut down for some inexplicable reason. i.e., instead of the above, it will just show "[%album% - " for the string.

Hi, all.

After spending over an hour trying to figure this out, I figured it would be simpler to just ask.

I wanted to format my title to display as such,
Album - TrackNumber(if it exists) - Title - Artist(if it exists)
where it doesn't wind up with additional spaces and dashes.

Despite what the ATF Reference says, you will wind up with the spaces and dashes if that metadata is empty.
e.g. with just the title,
 - - Title -

I tried this,
[%album% - ][$num(%track%,2) - ]$if2(%title%,$filepart(%filename%))[ - %artist%]
but as I said, it would just add those spaces and dashes, the track# will be 00 if the field is empty.

Can someone please tell me how to format this? Thanks.

Hi, first, thank you so much for all your work, DrO et al!

I'm on the latest 32-bit Preview Build #19516, running Windows 10 latest build.

This thing seems to fail whenever I use the Send To -> Portable drive (in my case, it was a microSD card). It seems to always crash now in this build.

I think in past builds, it was also very buggy, but you could at least sort of get it to work by going to Advanced and changing the File Name Format to <filename>. If you didn't change the File Name Format (FNF), it would just keep adding all your mp3s into one huge MP3 file until the process fails, and the rest of the files would just say Transfer failed.

But in this version, all it does is crash, no matter what you put in FNF.

Is there any chance we can get the USB Portables plugin working again? Thanks.

1 & 2) I assume the key point means columns in the playlist editor (main or library) & not leveraging what's already provided via the local library views which are better setup for doing such things than what is basically show a string & a time as the playlist views have always been. I won't rule out doing more to the playlist editor display mode later on but I've more behind the scenes to sort out before I can start making such visually different features.

3) Keeping things updated on renaming is a good idea & will be something I can do once I've replaced all of the library plug-ins & more aspects of the core so it's able to be done natively.

4) Physically delete is already possible with the Playlist File Remover plug-in when installed & enabled. Other aspects really come down to what plug-in is installed, what provides the feature & whether it makes sense to expose it as a global hotkey. Doing it generically just isn't viable without it becoming painful to manage on the code side as it then means _every_ item has to be registered along with associated description which has a size & performance issue on hotkey handling for little benefit to the majority of users. I'd prefer to just add specific actions that are of actual use unless there's a custom action where you specify the id of the menu action & is then in your hands if it'll work ok or not.

5) Ok, I can see how that might be helpful though it might be better if I just merge in the functionality of the gen_yar plug-in but make it also work in library playlists.

6) Preferences -> General -> Backup | Restore or if using a portable install, it's all within the 'settings' folder of the install. Non-portable installs are generally in something like %appdata%\WACUP or %appdata%\Winamp (subject to how the install was done).

7) I'll need more information on what's being done especially the skin & manner in which the preferences window is being opened. As the preferences window can be parented to a different window depending on the skin that's being used & which window was focused at the time so maybe that's it.

Is an issue already fixed for the next build.

9) You have to go into the Preferences -> Plug-ins -> Media Library & enable the needed plug-ins. They're not enabled by default even if selected to be installed due to stability issues with them (that plagued Winamp proper) & because most people don't seem to need to use the portables support. I plan on replacing that plug-in at some point but it's not a high priority & wouldn't be a 1:1 replacement but that's for talk another time.

10) This is normal as both installs are seen as a Winamp install & the checks that go on with that will prevent the other instance from running. This is something I will eventually be able to workaround with smarter multi-instance detection. The only option is to alter the 'Winamp Window Classname' via Preferences -> Advanced -> Portable Mode -> use the paths.ini file editor & change the portable install's classname to something different (e.g. Winamp 1.x Alt).

1-2) Yes, the playlist editor. I find local library views useless and messy.  Hoping a better way to go through a playlist with Ratings would appear, since it's easy to make a rating via global hotkeys.

4) (If I understand you) If there's a way for us to enter some custom id (that we have to dig up ourselves) to create a global hotkey, that'd be awesome too.

Hi and thank you for restarting winamp development.  I'm still using 5.666 now.

Can you please add these options?

1) THE MOST IMPORTANT ONE: an ability to filter the playlist based on the ratings AND/OR the option of adding a Ratings column that would let us sort songs based on how highly we rated them.
2) more optional column display options (e.g. filename, date, artist, etc.) like we have with windows explorer
3) some sort of file managing abilities (possibly as a plugin) that will let us rename the file AND have the playlist/medialist continue linking to the file.
4) more menu options available to global hotkeys (physically delete file, add to specified X playlist, etc.); or better yet, allow us to customize which items show up for possible hotkey assignment from a list of all menu items.
5) a way to save selected songs in playlist to a specified folder
6) option to save settings for backup

BUGS? (Portable install of 4346):
- Preferences window doesn't stay on top of media list
- Excluded Files view caused a crash/termination when I tested it
- option to manage usb storage when plugged in no longer shows up; also bring back option to manage devices in media list
- I have winamp installed and wacup as a portable app and I can't seem to get both up at the same time to compare
