Latest restricted WACUP beta release is build #19100 (May 10th 2024) (x86 & x64 changelogs) | Latest WACUP public preview is build #19100 (May 10th 2024) (x86 only)

NOTE: Beta testers are added in a limited & subjective manner as I can only support so many people as part of the beta test program to keep it useful for my needs.

Unless I think you're going to be helpful, not all requests will be accepted but might still be later on. Remember that beta testing is to help me & the limitations currently works for my needs for this project.

Timestamps being modified imho should happen if the tag has been altered - is there a reason why preserving timestamps is needed?
-dro

Some IDtag editors (e.g. MP3Tag) provide the option to preserve timestamps or not. Like you, I don't understand why. The default media library views "Recently Added" and "Recently Modified" meet my needs and the default time periods (i.e. 3 days from current date) are easily changed for either or both.

Resolved Issues / Re: High Processor Load

I hope the OP posts his Info Tool report. The i3-6100U has 2 cores, 4 threads and a 2.30 GHz base processor frequency, but it still sounds abnormal for the WACUP CPU load to stay in a high range when loaded and not playing files as when it's playing files.

Hi dro,

I have long thought Winamp basing what needs to be played by the file extension is a short coming. Even-though I also think that users should be responsible for checking if the extension of the files they use match the files' format. Are you considering doing something different for identifying a file's format with WACUP going forward?

Resolved Issues / Re: High Processor Load

AFAIK, this is normal. WACUP (and Winamp) loads the CPU more when playing files with a modern UI than with a classic UI. I usually use Komodo X Touchscreen and I've seen my CPU load momentarily exceed 33%.  When I use a classic skin, the CPU load stays under 10% (usually under 5%). I'm running an old 4 core CPU (AMD Phenom II X4 945) and 6 GB of DDR2 RAM. The only thing less than 5 years old on my computer is a SSD C: drive (connected to a SATA 2 port).

Since WACUP is still in beta, I think it is a good idea to disable all plug-ins you don't use on a regular basis. Unless the WACUP CPU load is interfering with other programs you are running at the same time, I suggest you not worry about it.

However, I'd appreciate if anyone can suggest  a way to enqueue files with right-click. Usually I need to add files when something is already playing, and the Play Folder method will not only kill what's currently playing but also delete the existing playlist in order to play the new selection.

The WACUP right-click enqueue selection command works in the media library. The right-click WACUP shell commands for Windows File Explorer are not supported at this time.

Hi JLPicard,

I'm glad you found a work-a-round that meets your needs.

The ipod afaik uses a custom way of interacting with it that changed a number of times ...

Yeah, you're probably right. That's why I don't use Apple products. Never have, never will.

Apple is also quick to abandon older models of their stuff when new models come out.

I assume you want to copy mp3 files to 1 or more folders that already exist on your ipod. Since you can configure pmp_usb.dll to connect to your ipod as drive F, there is another plug-in that could possibly be used to copy the files. It is a general purpose plug-in called "Yar-matey! Playlist Copier" (gen_yar.dll). It will send a copy of all the files listed in the playlist editor window to a folder of your choice. It shows up in the main player's right-click (context) menu as "Copy playlist files".

If Yar-matey! can see the folder(s) you want to use on your ipod, then it should be able to copy the files listed in the playlist editor to it(them). I'm using version 1.12 of Yar-matey!. If you can't find it doing a web search, I can PM you a copy.

If Windows Explorer can see the folders on your ipod, you should be able to use it to copy files, as another work-a-round.

Hi JLPicard,

What pmp_*.dll plug-ins are you using? You should also have the ml_pmp.dll plug-in installed. The pmp_ipod.dll plug-in is old and only supports certain early ipod models. I'm only using the pmp_usb.dll plug-in and have no issues transferring files to devices that can connect to my computer's usb ports.

I think adding WACUP preferences to the taskbar icon context menu should be an option which defaults to on.

While we're talking about win7shell, I just noticed that the option "Hide WACUP from the taskbar when its minimized ..." doesn't work.

341
Most of the skins I use don't have the lightning bolt. I am using the Taskbar Integration plug-in (gen_win7shell.dll) which includes a WACUP Preferences command on it's context menu. For those not using this plug-in, adding a WACUP Preferences command to the default taskbar icon's context menu would be a good idea.

I hope the OP will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the next on stop plug-in is working as intended. Whosline07 issue had to do with getting different responses when using the mouse to click on playback controls vs using his corresponding multimedia playback control keys on his keyboard.

The curious thing about my keyboard is a missing multimedia playback control key. I have previous, next, play/pause, volume mute, volume increase and volume decrease keys, but no stop playback key. I do have a key (with a headphone symbol on it) that can be configured to open a program, webpage, or file, but I'd rather have a stop playback key.

Hi PimpUigi,

Check the selected output device for the output plug-in you're using. I updated to Windows 10 2004 on May 31 and had the same issue until I checked the output device and saw it had been changed to Primary Sound Driver instead of the device I need to use on my system. Major Windows 10 updates like 2004 always changes the selected output device on my system for some unknown reason.

344
Yeah, getting keyboard media keys to do what you want can be tricky. It depends on the kind of keyboard (make and model) and how it is set up and how the WACUP Global Hotkeys options (in the General Preferences section) are set up. The default multimedia key support option works for me but I usually just use my mouse and click on stuff.

Good Luck

Ok, to get the behavior you want, disable (uncheck) the "advance to the next track after the current one when playback stops" option.
