Title: Other files in mp3 folder
Post by: ozstar on October 01, 2018, 01:22:06 AM
Hi,

Although so far nothing negative has happened,  I wondered whether it is okay to place other files say, PDF, doc,M3u, PLS etc., in the same folder as the MP3's for the playlist.

To make it clearer and cleaner for me, I create a folder for each playlist and place all the MP3's into it. Wondered whether any pertinent file to that playlist could be in there too.

Thanks

Put anything you like in the folders. Winamp and WACUP ignore anything they do not have a decoder for.

The playlist files will be seen so might end up with duplicating the MP3 loaded if the files & the playlist are loaded at the same time (but that's simple to control by either only loading the files or the playlist). Otherwise I've nothing else to add to Dr.Flay's comment :)

Since the subject came up.. I would add -as a related wishlist- that Winamp won't clear the playlist and add jpg/png/non media files (can't remember if this happens with other filetypes) when -accidentally- dragged over.
(Hope it makes sense, I may have taken off some needed words to avoid redundancy..)

Hmm, the playlist shouldn't be being cleared when dragging images over the playlist. Or do you mean just blocking any image files being able to be added to the playlist?

Actually, the clearing happens when dropping the image into the main player (probably where the layer has droptarget=pl).
Like you say, dropping directly into the PL only adds the non - playable entry, that shouldn't happen either.

Ah, dropping on main window part. that's an age old behaviour though I can't remember if the default play or enqueue handling affects that.

It's a tricky one as to what to do as I get not adding images makes sense but what determines them to be non-playable as there's been cases of one file triggering another to be actually played. But I'll definitely keep this in mind for later changes :)
