Title: [Problem] Messed up Song Sorting / Album Sorting Not Considering Disc Numbers
Post by: SuperVGBoy on August 14, 2025, 01:33:54 AM
I was attempting to fix sorting of albums in Local Library because before, it wasn't considering Disc Numbers, meaning multiple track 1s were out of order.
And then a new problem came up where it isn't sorted by track number but by contributing artists alphabetically.

This is how it's meant to be sorted (By track Number, and Disc Number if applicable)

This is how it ends up being sorted (being sorted by contributing artists alphabetically, and disregarding track number)

There are also instances where the first track played isn't Track 1, even if the contributing artist field is the same across all tracks

I am currently having the same problem. Albums are being sorted by track #, bypassing disc # when it is applicable. Associative sorting is turned on. Did you manage to get it fixed?

The sorting is determined by the selected column in the results pane area of the views. Not all interactions with the local library as-is & getting results out of it will make use of that so that might be behind some of the problems. If you're working within the local library view & the results pane is there then if you're sorting by 'album' or 'artist' then disc is meant to be accounted for as part of the sub-sorting that's done (with disc being applied before track).

So far I can't replicate things being mis-sorted so either my test data is borked or I'm not testing correctly against how either of you are doing it & would need clarification on how _exactly_ you're interacting & doing things. I've also removed the other thread so this one can just be used to deal with this issue since it seems to be the same problem being reported.

I went into the media library view. I found that playing the album by pressing on the album covers in the local library pane makes sorting not take disc numbers into account, but going into the subsection Audio, finding the album and sorting by Artist exclusively made sorting take disc numbers into account and work properly. I guess that does fix it, but it is a workaround for a simple process. That being said, I really appreciate your work!

I'm not viewing it as a fix nor even a vague workaround as that's not practical to expect. It was more that I needed to know what interaction with the plug-in is being done to queue up looking into making potential changes so the view order or an expectation of albums being sorted as that for the image elements without generically applying it & making the interaction with the local library even slower than it is for things.
