You made an amazing work with WACUP!
I suggest an option to save ratings into file metadata. I need this.
In Winamp was an option for this in libary plugin.
Is it possible to do it the same way?

Hello,
Maybe by making a Backup of Wacup with the tool of Winamp, it is integrated in the Options\Preferences\General\Backup-Restore of Wacup.
-
Go to the WACUP Preferences Media Library tab of options. Look in the Advanced Library Preferences for the "Save ratings to file for compatible formats (default: off)" option.
I don't use ratings, so I don't know if this actually works. I don't bother to save files in my library that would be less than four or five stars.

Thank you, I dont saw it before. But it is deactivated (grey) and cant switch to active. I dont know how it could be enabled.

It's not a currently implemented feature.

That's interesting, until now, I was under the impression that it worked, but with a new album I just downloaded, I was pretty confused why the File Explorer doesn't show any ratings.
/edit
After a bit of testing with mp3 and flac files, I found the following:
- With mp3, the file gets real update to the Raw Metadata "RATING WINAMP" field with value between 0-5 and it gets immediately updated in File Explorer too.
- With flac, it gets real update to the Raw Metadata too, but it is not reflected in File Explorer, because Windows doesn't support that (so it never worked :) )
- Wacup will use either "RATING", "RATING WINAMP" or "RATING WMP" fields depending of what was used previously for reading and storing rating.
So has this been implemented since last message in April 2025?
Fun fact:
- For a file that has not been rated within wacup, wacup will read whatever is in the metadata. After changing within wacup, it uses Media Library rating and ignores metadata (even when a change is made to the file externally).
- If the RATING of a flac 1-100 or 1-5, wacup understands and displays 1-5 stars, however, after changing the rating within wacup, the metadata field RATING reads multiples of 20 (1-100). File Explorer understands neither, not 5 or 100 and displays 0*.

Saving ratings is still not a formally supported action even when messing around with the config option that could potentially enable the attempt to interact with the input plug-in responsible for the metadata saving vs what the local library might be doing with its caching.

This is exactly what I need but this option is disabled in preference. How could I get it turn on without GUI?

Wait for the next build & then you can just enable the option & deal with the problems that comes from it (aka crashing & potentially breaking the integrity of the files) assuming that the input plug-in for the file type(s) being messed with even support it. aka if it goes wrong then you're on your own.
