I figured I'd show some of the site...by, releasing the site live.

Good progress. Some features like skin description or date of publication are still missing but it is good to see the skins again. :)

The "CPRO Skin" checkbox seems to be checked for every Modern skin, which is wrong. See e.g. Multipass (http://1001skins.com/pages/skinbrowser/rpeterclark/skin/3358/). When I last counted, only 17 (http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?t=400114#post3080994) of the Modern skins were cPro skins.

ikr...

I wish I knew a developer or two; unfortunately, the hack doing 1001 works for donuts and gratuitous ass slaps.  While, it was novel at first...  tbh; I'm not sure what this response really means...so, yea...

....grr, hashtag mondays...

oh and of note: there are 36 Featured skins by default now... w000t.

These skins cannot be downloaded:
cPro Zen (https://1001skins.com/pages/skinbrowser/verula/skin/3697/) can be downloaded but it has no preview image.

Damn! My author page looks good! XD. Reminder: update Venus preview to current proportions. Upload Aluminum II, cPro Axe, Komodo X, Grafito, Bento Modern..

There are a few that were uploaded by veroka that had issues; mostly they were compressed into multiple files (ie files in files).  Not sure, why; but, the server picked them up as having malware and stripped them from being used.

I could manually remove them from the db, filesystem...but, then it would take awhile for each as they are not exactly listed like they are shown in the db or the file system.  Each has a unique id and a custom extension for every wal, zip, wsz, and etc.  They are handled specially with a service handler to convert them to the name and file that is need for download/viewing.

I will at some point cleanup the db and remove those missing skins....and etc.

:(

Why remove them if you can re-add them from DeviantArt?
And here is a screenshot (http://download.nullsoft.com/customize/component/3/2011/8/1/S/large_image/cPro_Zen.jpg) of cPro Zen.

Skin pages do not load: Zorg II (https://1001skins.com/pages/skinbrowser/garetjax/skin/3725/).
The gallery (https://1001skins.com/Pages/Gallery/127) and the author (https://1001skins.com/pages/Authors/garetjax/) pages are all right.

I'm all in for a re-upload of missing skins. Having some sort of bullet proof repository sounds like a good place to be positioned for the site.
Though I know we might be stepping a bit into a questionable zone, using a re-uploader account for missing skins could be great. At worst, if some skinner complains, you can take it down.

The screenshots of cPro skins at DeviantArt might be too larger for 1001. These are smaller ones from the Nullsoft archive:

Well, at present there is only a single admin; and the admin features are limited.  That is not to say, I cannot do more....This is one of those internal debate moments.  Weighing the completeness of the site, with doing some jackwagon stuff to peoples submitted content.

I do not either exclude it from happen nor say it will happen.  I know, that I do not want to modify someone's original submission as then the content belongs to 1001skins as much as it belongs to the originator...and with that there may be a violation; in consideration of my terms/conditions.

Again, I will think on it and let you know...

I have fixed the skin_browser issue.  Skin Views should now work without issue.  Search is still being written; so, it partially works.

I have updated the images for the time being while I sort out if I will allow a 'skin' moderator to manage updates...

Keep in mind how many skins there are on 1001 (seriously, there are alot).

It's probably not -that- right to say it but... the moral dilemma is on us only, skinners won't care about it, for the most part. It's we (I offer myself to do such job) who have the "responsibility" to do something with what's left.. Ideally, lost skins should be manually restored in the back end without anyone noticing anything, but I proposed a co-admin / uploader just to alleviate your work load.

Vic; you know I respect you and trust you.  When I am or If I am going to enable it I would first speak to you.

:)

FYI: I have all the skins local on my computer as well; so, if absolutely necessary to generate a screenshot I can take a screenshot with it actually running.  The hardpart would be finding it in the skin browser of winamp; as I had at some point mapped them all to the skins folder.  :: sheesh ::

Wouldn't the easiest solution (probably not on the coding side) be to note what has been altered & provide the original as well? As long as the appropriate ownership / sourcing of the file is stated (as anything from the old nullsoft site archive has been re-distributed numerous times now that it unlikely makes much different - at least if it's on a site that intentionally cares is better than a generic mirror site imho).

your right; and you know it...

yes, true; the problem lies in the original files.  Their screenshots, were rejected by the server malware/virus protection on after; when I switched to the redundant server; instead of the existing one.  I only lost <.5%, which isn't alot but, I had tried to open those 'screenshots' and they indeed had something...whether by the server, the client or something else entirely...I do not know.  As a result I am not sure which I have screenshots for which I don't.

Anyway, I fixed those as notified.

GaretJax, will you update the ClassicPro plugin at 1001 Skins (http://1001skins.com/Pages/Downloads/), please?
It is ClassicPro_2.03_jRGrNDV2mKc_(2017-03-21), while the latest version is ClassicPro_2.03_Zcb1ZN7Jo_4_(2017-04-27) (http://skinconsortium.com/index.php?page=Thread&postID=27442#post27442).

I should probably put up a mirror page here as well for it (along with a bit more about cPro since I'm including it in wacup) due to whatever is going on with the skin consortium site. I assume no one has been able to get in contact with people about it ?.

Also would it be better to have a skins sub-forum on here or leave it as-is in the general section ?

Yes, it is a good idea to mirror the ClassicPro plugin here, too. I wrote to the owner of skinconsortium.com 6 days ago but he has not replied.

FYI: There is an API Available for accessing all of 1001skins...(just saying).
Title: Re: 1 0 0 1
Post by: dro on September 16, 2017, 02:48:57 AM
That took me a moment to realise you'd quoted me but also included a comment in the post (I think I've edited it correctly).

That could be most useful as a way to find & install skins from within WACUP.

Not sure on how the UI would work off the top of my head as everything so far is just setup for lists of the locally available skin so would need some sort of re-working to make web searching work (have attached a screenshot of the setup and in-wacup options).

It is standard json request; so, you could make a request from the ws and get back a set (#) of featured skins list that you could init a download from into a temp then use that file.  I've also, created an image handler that scales the preview images automagically available from the site as well (returns png | jpg | etc).  I also, included the search as an API Call;

----

Look into gSoap - a great open-source, C/C++ library for accessing web services. I've used this extensively for accessing services written in .Net. Commercial and not-for-profit licenses available.

FYI, before you get any idea's my c++ skils are shyte; I do c# winform/webform cuz, I am lazy; I like it to be built for me with all that fancy syntax highlighting, reflection and 'threading' (lol).

Post by: dro on September 17, 2017, 04:20:43 AM
Can you send me the details or point me where to look for the api spec please :)

If it's a straight json response then gSoap might be a bit overkill plus the license & how their treating the GPL is an issue for me.

As so far libcurl + rapidjson has done me well when dealing with json responses with the main issue being getting the response reliably, the processing is the simple bit ;)

oh and to get an image

For a Preview Image (they are all big); comes from json return of a skin request:
http://www.1001skins.com/Assets/Handlers/PreviewImageHandler.ashx?image={skin_id}.big.{skin_preview_big}&w={intWidth}&h={intHeight}
Returns a binary file (jpg|png|etc) in the resampled size constraints requested.

To Download again from the json return of a skin request a return field (skin_file) is used to pull the actual file and write it in the response:
http://www.1001skins.com/Assets/Handlers/filedownload.ashx?filename={skin_file}

cPro Relax (http://www.1001skins.com/pages/skinbrowser/verula/skin/3662) hosted at 1001 throws up three error messages (see attached image) all because of a single missing slash in line 34 of colors.xml.

I am attaching the skin with a fixed colors.xml which I had downloaded from Skin Consortium before the site was hosed up.

GaretJax, will you replace cPro Relax at 1001 with this one, please?
