Latest restricted WACUP beta release is build #13286 (October 21st 2022) (x86 & x64 changelogs) | Latest WACUP public preview is build #7236 (March 11th 2021) (x86 only)

NOTE: Beta testers are added in a limited & subjective manner as I can only support so many people as part of the beta test program to keep it useful for my needs.

Unless I think you're going to be helpful, not all requests will be accepted but might still be later on. Remember that beta testing is to help me & the limitations currently works for my needs for this project.

For WACUP it's best to install it into a separate folder for the time being as there's still work that needs to be done to ensure that installing over an existing Winamp install will work ok.

I know what you mean ;)

Tbh looking at some of those old plug-ins reminds me of when skin & plug-in reviews were a commonly done thing (I did some of the later plug-in reviews). Plus it's a good way to rediscover things that can and should be re-implemented in some form :)

Looks like the logging will grab just about everything I use:
Code: [Select]
13_11_2016 - 22:30:28 - Classical - "Royal Philharmonic Orchestra" - "Hooked on Classics, Part 3" - Hooked on Classics - 1981 - 3 - 6:00 - 362 - 128 - (removed)\Music\MP3\Classical\Royal Philharmonic Orchestra-Hooked on Classics\Royal Philharmonic Orchestra - Hooked on Classics - 03 - Hooked on Classics, Part 3.mp3

Is the %length% just supposed to put the minutes? This song is 6:02.  The %length_seconds% looks correct though.
In that example it should be being output as "6:02" when using %length% (will re-check as I re-used the code I use in JTFE so it should be working ok).

I'd program the date to look different but I just need to get it in some fashion.

Tying ATF formatting into this "ping" operation is fine.
I assume it's one of the RFC date formats that you'd want (based on what was in the earlier XML example). Just need to know which one and can look to get that added in.

Going with ATF and modifications of it may not be the ultimately best solution but for the most part it should suffice with it being a simpler way to access the metadata and custom data within how Winamp tends to want to work.

Hmmm, close Winamp and it crashed. Sent the debug email.
Although I thought I'd fixed that, it now transpires (as I'd not been able to fully test it) is that there's a hard-coded email address being used instead of what is specified via the config file. So you'll need to manually email those to my bug email address (am trying to figure out a quick solution to work around the native crash reporters issue :().

Thanks for having a look into things, is much appreciated.

As much as just using an older version is tempting, doing #1 or #2 is the better option in trying to do it right :)

I'm really doing it all wrong if decent plug-ins can get people to pay to use them :)

As for the request, it fits in perfectly with the ideas behind the Yule Log plug-in as a means to get the information from Winamp out into the world for whatever reason.

Sending a POST request of just the current song's information (as an XML body or parameterised) is easy enough with libcurl.

Though am already thinking it's best I add a JSON body equivalent and even the possibility to control what is sent (via ATF) instead of just hard-coding and hoping for the best.

Also is there any information in the current data set you get that's missing / needs tweaking ? Or would just making it more customisable solve that issue for you ?

Not that it's been commented on (unless I've missed it somehowbut I am aware that some of the action buttons on the forum (mainly when accessed via a mobile / small screen) are just showing as orange buttons with no image.

I'm looking into what is causing the theme to not show the images that it's meant to be so should have it resolved as soon as possible.

If you find anything else then please do say and I'ill do what I can to get it fixed.

p.s. I've also tweaked some of the mobile view sizes so once the browser cache gets updated then they should appear (e.g. the user info block on mobile is now like the desktop / large screen view so it's side-by-side instead of vertical which gets a fair bit of screen space back so the news banner should appear on mobile viewing now).

When you make a reply, if you use the full reply mode and expand the 'Attachments and other options' block just below the text box, there's a 'Notify me of replies.' option.

There might be something else that's easier in the forum account settings... like the following I just found at 'forum profile' -> 'modify profile' -> 'notifications' and the 'Turn notification on when you post or reply to a topic.' option.

I'm still getting to know the forum software myself so there might be an even easier way than either of those options.

One thing to keep in mind with a lot of the older plug-ins that were on the old site is that they don't tend to play well with newer versions of Windows from Vista and onwards due to them trying to write their settings into the Winamp program files folder or not being portable mode compatible or can break unicode support (which my unicodetaskbarfixer plug-in tried to resolve).

So just something to keep in mind incase things don't work right after installing them (primarily settings not being remembered or getting odd crashes / error messages).

Have to say I'm surprised at just how many people dumped copies of the old site files when the mess that arose from the closure / sale notice happened.

Yeah it is a bit orange :) Its based on the main colour of the old Winamp logo when run through some tool I used back in January (cannot find what it was at the moment) though some parts on the forum theme seem to be a bit brighter so will have to consider toning things down a little bit (otherwise I guess I could try to do a dark theme based on either the classic base skin or the bento skin colours).

I'm also going to have to apologise now but I really cannot put your username to one that rings a bell at the moment unless you went under a different name (though I can start to blame age for that, heh).

Just without the count to xxx thread - that's one best left for wasting RN's bandwidth as they can afford it, heh.

I just can't remember if that managed to get 10,000 or 100,000 posts during the time of that forum before it went back to its origin forum.

You forgot to mention that you're a glutton for punishment as you've been using my plug-ins over the years :D

General Discussion / Welcome (Please Read First)
« on: October 24, 2016, 12:51:42 AM »
Welcome to the Winamp Community Update Pack (WACUP) forums

If you don't already know what WACUP is then please first have a look at to find out more about it it is and what it intends to achieve.

The aim of this forum is to provide a place to talk about and provide support for WACUP from the initial closed beta testing to public releases and whatever else comes from that. You're also welcome to talk about anything Winamp related to associated technology or anything else of interest (nothing dodgy please :) ). Things will change over the next few months whilst everything gets properly setup so if there are issues with the forum, etc then please do report it so it can be fixed).

For those genuinely wanting to participate in the beta testing of WACUP, please drop me a message so you can be added to the beta testing group. For those not wanting to test beta releases and instead just want to wait for non-beta releases then you're also more than welcome to hang around and participate in the general conversations going on :)

Final thing, if you are having issues logging in / registering on these forums, you can also contact me via the options at so I can help you out.
