Latest restricted WACUP beta release is build #18980 (April 24th 2024) (x86 & x64 changelogs) | Latest WACUP public preview is build #18980 (April 24th 2024) (x86 only)

NOTE: Beta testers are added in a limited & subjective manner as I can only support so many people as part of the beta test program to keep it useful for my needs.

Unless I think you're going to be helpful, not all requests will be accepted but might still be later on. Remember that beta testing is to help me & the limitations currently works for my needs for this project.

Hello,

is it OK to do a feature request for this skin?

Isn't it possible to lock the required file just when an update is needed ? I don't know how the new ML is implemented, but I know that works perfectly with SQLite (but maybe it can't be done with network storage...)

Hi,

For the responsiveness, I was surprised too, I thought it would be slow only when starting/

Maybe if the path to the ML directory could be specified in some configuration file, so that it could be placed on a network drive, but every other parts are specific to each computer. But I guess it wouldn't solve concurrent access to the ML content...

Wishlist / Feature Requests / shared library accross computers
« on: November 16, 2021, 08:41:02 AM »
Hi,

I use several computers at home, and my music is on a server, which I access through mapped drives (using the same letter on every computer). Which would be useful for me is the ability to share media library. More precisely, I would like to share both smart views and playlists, so that if I add a song in a playlist from one computer (or change the query of a smart view), the change is automatically applied to every computer.

I tried to use portable WACUP on a shared directory, but this solution has two drawbacks:
- it's very slow! loading WACUP from network drive makes it quite unresponsive
- the whole WACUP setup is shared, which doesn't work well since different computers use different resolutions (and thus different skins)

I guess my case is very specific, but maybe something can be done...

Hi,

I noticed that the album art displayed in modern skin (I don't know about classic) is the first image that is embedded, even if it's not the front cover. It would make sense that the front cover is displayed, whatever position it is at.

And I still hope someday for some way of navigating between all the art embedded in a song, but thats another point...

Hi DrO,

is there any chance you found time to work on this?

Wow that would be really nice of you. Thanks a lot!

What I basically need is to be able to link a method to the events corresponding to the user creating/changing/deleting a library playlist. So if that can be done as a general plugin, that's ok, I already have an empty general plugin that compiles.

Hi,

I didn't manage to find an empty ML plugin that I could compile. The only ML plugin source that I found (included in the Winamp SDK) doesn't work, at least on my environment. It's the ML_XMLEX plugin. Could someone provide me with an empty ML plugin project for VS 2017?

Many thanks!

Thanks for the offer. I don't think adding a command line would be enough, since I want to update the exported playlists as soon as the ML playlist is modified. Plus that's a good start for learning Winamp plugin development, which I wanted to do for some years now ;)

On the NAS side, there is not much to do, since all I need is to upload the m3u file on a known location using ssh. I guess that part is easy. More complicated part would be the event management.

Hi DrO,

Best wishes for the new year. Don't worry about the delay, I figured out that, posting between Christmas and new year's eve, I wouldn't get a reply right away ;)

I want to create a plugin that exports all media library playists to a specific network location, and update them whenever there's a change in them. I own a Synology NAS, and my goal is to integrate ML playlists to the DS Audio application. I'm currently working on the NAS side (found out how to integrate a playlist into DS Audio, but not how to pin it on the homepage). What IDE would you recommand, between Visual Studio 2017 and Code::Blocks?

Thanks for your help!

Hi,

I plan on developping a winamp plugin, and found this resource:
http://wiki.winamp.com/wiki/Plug-in_Developer

Is it up to date?
And do you know any forum where I could get some help? I'm new to win32 dev, and I guess it will be hard at the beginnning...

Thanks!

Hi

as I have told in my previous post, I'm aware of this tag (which I miscalled Album Interpet). Using a Featured Artist, though, seems to me a better way to go. If I'm looking for all the songs from Queen, I won't have to use a request like "?artist=Queen or album_artis=Queen". And using "?artist has queen" doesn't work because it would also find Queen Latifah (big fan of Chicago here).

Hi,

I would be very interested in this feature, it's something that I've been thinking of for a while. Here's another use case: add a "featuring" field. For example, in the Queen's album Hot Space, most tracks have only Queen as Interpret, except for Under Pressure, which features David Bowie. If the Interpret field is Queen feat. David Bowie, it messes with the album grouping, which means the Album Interpret has to be used. Using a Featuring field for storing David Bowie would make more sense.
And does this feature implies that title formatting would also need to be redone? Would make sense.

About the feasibility, could this be a way to go: Let the user specify which fields he needs, which defines the library metadata, and if there's a change in this metadata, have the library rebuild itself. I guess this rebuild would be quite difficult to implement, and very CPU consuming, but maybe it's feasible...
