Big Bento started failing -script error
« on: July 01, 2025, 01:54:31 AM »
Heyo.  when I load up winamp 1.99.34.22022 and the prior release, I have started getting the attached error the script in question is C:\Program Files (x86)\WACUP\Skins\Big Bento Modern\scripts\sc_aerosnap.maki

When I left click, as suggested by the error, the application seems to fire up fine.  More of a minor annoyance than anything.

All the modern Big Bento suffers this fate, all have that script with the same last edit date (4/24/24)

I'm on a windows 11 x64 running all the latest patches, happy to provide any other info that might help

I'm not getting a script error notice when switching to the Big Bento Modern or the Big Bento Modern Windows 10 edition skins after starting WACUP with another skin. I also don't get an error when starting WACUP with either of these skins. Both of these skins are version 1.2.4. I have the same script file and see that it is used by the player-normal.xml file in my configuration. What versions of the bento skins are you using? I'm using the x86 version of WACUP. What version are you using?

All the big bento modern variations do this -anything that has that script as part of the skin
There are quite a few options in the control panel, skins, modern skins -5 tabs of them!  I don't -think- I have changed anything in there.  At one point I was fiddling with font size -took me a while to track down what I was looking for.  Perhaps I hit something.  Is there a way to reset the interface?

The error generally means the skin script &/or the script engine as part of the re-used gen_ff plug-in from 5.666 can't find something it's looking for. So before trying to mess with the existing install any further, try making a portable x86 install & see if that still shows the same issue since being a portable install should contain all of the settings files within the folder chosen so there's minimal chance of something external screwing around with things. If that still fails then will have to figure out how to resolve it when I'm so far not seeing it fail as shown. If it doesn't fail then that could possibly point to something being wrong with the skin settings file messing things up. Oh and also make sure you've gone to Preferences -> About | Updates -> About tab & applied the post-release crash fixes on the broken install as well as after installing the new portable install to rule out the issues fixed by that not being behind this.

Sorry, dumb question. X64 version doesn't support modern skins.

Even Big Bento Modern - Windows 10 edition?

sc_aerosnap.maki tries to find a button with the id "close.btn", which Big Bento Modern - Windows 10 edition has in player-normal.xml, but the id of the same button is simply "close" in all the other Bing Bento Modern skins.

What surprises me is that we do not get the guru meditation.

"Make a portable copy"
uh.. man in 25+ years I've never had the pleasure, so.... hmmmmmm

"Big bento vX vs  xY vs win 10"
I've switched through them all.. they all have that issue.

"x64.."
Yeah I'm stuck with x86 or the skins -really- are not great

"load the post release update"
yah I did that one too.

I feel like it's machine related.  Something is off and it's my own unique deal.

It probably won't hurt anything at this point to delete (or move) your bento skin folders and reinstall them from the WACUP installation file. If they still fail to load without error, then something must be off elsewhere in your configuration.

It's an option in the installer on the second page shown at the bottom & after picking that mode it's just like doing a normal install but everything is setup to be done from within the folder chosen instead of being in at least 2 folders (program files folder & a settings folder).
