Can I sync an Ipod classic to my Wacup Library?
« on: October 23, 2023, 05:57:28 AM »
Hi, I have been looking for alternatives to itunes, as their constant software updates have at times been making it more difficult for my ipod 160 gig classic to connect and sync to my itunes library. I know at one point you could do that with Winamp, but the versions I tried  with winamp, kept crashing on me very often so I didn't have time to connect and sync my ipod to the program before it crashed. I have a windows 10 64 bit.
I downloaded Wacup and I was easily able to add the files from my tunes over to Wacup, however there doesn't seem to be an add/ connect device option anywhere in the program. Nor does anything pop up when I plug my ipod into the computer.

I really like my 160G Ipod classic because it is simple easy to use and holds a lot of songs. However  I think Apple is trying to make these models obsolete by making them less compatible with itunes.

If you know of a way to connect and sync an ipod classsic to Wacup or if there is a plug in I could add to it, it would be most appreciated please.

Thank you.

By default WACUP will install the portables related plug-ins from the 5.666 installer but won't have it enabled by default as most don't needed it. If you go to Preferences -> Plug-ins -> Media Library -> find the ml_pmp.dll item & check the box to enable it, then close the prefs page & allow it to restart. How well things will work I really can't say due to them being re-used plug-ins. The alternative is ml_ipod but I also can't say how well that might work. It is on my todo list to implement a native WACUP plug-in (likely based on ml_ipod) but it's not a top priority for me to work on for now.

Hi thank you for the reply, the program was able to connect and recognize my ipod once I enabled the plug in. However as soon as I clicked on "sync  ipod". The program just automatically closed/ crashed before it could start synching anything :(

It's not the end of the world. But if you could please let me know when the issue us able to be resolved.

Thank you.

Did you also try using ml_ipod instead of the ml_pmp / pmp_ipod option ?
