Wishlist / Feature Requests / Re: New Classic Skin Size
« on: June 12, 2021, 01:53:04 PM »
Tbh 3x scaling is more likely to appear than 1.5x for the moment. The issue is that 1.5x scaling using the same way that 2x scaling is done (equivalent of nearest neighbour from what I can tell) looks awful for a lot of skins (making it blurry & loose colour definition) so it's going to need some experimenting to find a solution (or offer up a range of solutions & allow the user to choose) that work well for non integer scaling - an issue that also affects modern skins (which is probably a bilinear scale due to the time it was implemented).

Preferences -> Playback -> Video -> button at the top of the prefs page. To re-enable it you have to go to the advanced section at the bottom of the preference tree.

Anyway this is one of the few issues I've been having that sound like they will be fixed with the next build. Will you be releasing it this month?
I'm hoping so as I'm behind on where I want to be but a chunk of that has been due to trying to replace more aspects taking longer than I expected.

I can't remember if it came up before or not but have you disabled the video support? As I know there's an issue with that & how the classic skin handling works especially when trying to move the main window that'll mess up where it thinks things are. It is fixed for the next build but that's the only obvious thing that I can explain it acting as described (again, I can't remember if this was already explained or not).

The change which possibly was something I'd done (as these sort of small changes is the sort of thing I did on Winamp) would've been to make the internal implementation cleaner when the browser can auto-number things rather than it being hard-coded into the html & making for a larger output file or something like that. Why the copy from the browser doesn't include the numbers from the list in that manner is a browser question.

Also lots of the smaller changes never got added into Winamp's changelogs otherwise you'd be seeing the 250+ line changelogs that I often come up with.

Anyhoo, what I meant by my initial reply wasn't that the Winamp change is weird / less than ideal (as I also used the html output from 5.666 to determine what to do for the WACUP reimplementation), its more to determine why are you even having to manually copy it into notepad to begin with?

That's what I'm trying to understand & if possible be able to provide a quicker solution than you having to manually do things unless I'm missing something obvious (hence asking for clarification).

I've changed the mode so it'll now also reset the double-size mode option back to off if it's been set since that seems to have helped with this.

That command should have worked as long as it was done from within the WACUP install folder (that's the only thing I can explain the action not working) as all of the windows noted are covered by the action. You'll have to go into the WACUP settings folder (typically %appdata%\wacup but might be different if using a portable / custom install location), find the winamp.ini & as a starting point look for the wx & wy entries (within the [winamp] section) & post what those values are set to be before removing them to help confirm it's going to appear in the correct location.

Only other things, was WACUP set to appear on a monitor to the left of the main monitor (as configured with the OS display settings) & have you tried disabling double-size mode via the main right-click menu which you should be able to access via the windows that are showing. The other way to get to that menu if there's nothing showing is either via the notification area icon menu or holding shift down when right-clicking the running WACUP taskbar icon which should show a menu with the WACUP build as the submenu string & the option can be found within that.

I probably need to come up with a solution to make it easier to access some of these command-line helper options as others have had issues trying to access the command-line.

From the command-line wacup.exe /RESETCLASSICSKINPOS

That should work for anything that's officially known about. For 3rd party plug-ins then it's manually editing config files which would need to be added to the known list of values to be handled.

General Discussion / Re: Plugin compatibility with XMPlay?
« on: May 29, 2021, 02:36:28 PM »
The native WACUP plug-ins are linked to & require the WACUP core as part of giving a better WACUP experience. So unless another program fully replicates all of that then they're not going to work. They also use a newer revisions of the input plug-in api (same applies to the majority of the other plug-in types).

My aim is to support Winamp plug-ins up to the 5.666 specifications & then anything that's WACUP native can be made hopefully better to get around some of the issues that I've always had with the basic Winamp plug-in specification. Also funnily enough I've had requests to have WACUP support the loading of xmplay plug-ins.

Foobar2000 AIMP and Musicbee can play DSD just fine WACUP can not
And they're not having to go through the effort of trying to catch-up whilst re-creating almost 15 years of Winamp development.

As for the needs aspect, there is technically DSD support already with WACUP but it has to be from within a WavPack file though I assume the request is for standalone DSD files for which there isn't support (but there is the 3rd party plug-in as noted above). Until I allocate the time to look into what is involved with DSD, I don't have much else to say about the request.

It can depend on the visualisation as to how it places it's window e.g. milkdrop in windowed mode has some checks in place to stay on the monitor otherwise things can get a bit odd with the output in some setups though the wacup build of the plug-in is meant to be more sensible compared to the plain Winamp version.

What are you actually doing with the copied text? As this seems like a less than ideal solution & altering the html output the less ideal fix for what you're trying to do.

The video handling issue being mentioned is an issue with how the classic skin window snapping is handled & is due to a check that was missing (from what I've just tested & fixed). As I wasn't correctly checking for the video not being present at one point which would mess-up some of the subsequent checks being done. Main thing is that both of the issues should now be resolved for the next build :)

Is the second monitor to the left of the main monitor ? If so then it's already fixed for the eventual next build. If not then I need more information on how the monitors are arranged according to Windows please.

Was that that script causing the issue in the other thread about the vis not working?
