Latest restricted WACUP beta release is build #14638 (February 23rd 2023) (x86 & x64 changelogs) | Latest WACUP public preview is build #7236 (March 11th 2021) (x86 only)

NOTE: Beta testers are added in a limited & subjective manner as I can only support so many people as part of the beta test program to keep it useful for my needs.

Unless I think you're going to be helpful, not all requests will be accepted but might still be later on. Remember that beta testing is to help me & the limitations currently works for my needs for this project.

Hi Samey and dro,

Sorry for my disconnect on the current state of things. I can verify that WACUP v1.8.18. 14282 does fix the issues with modern skins (in the previous x86 build).

I misread this statement; "Latest restricted WACUP beta release is build #14278/14282 (January 23rd/24th 2023) (x86 & x64 changelogs)", at the top of the forum. I was thinking that build #14278 was for x86 and build #14282 was for x64.

Refugee-DeClassified v1.30 is again working correctly on WACUP. Refugee AmpDeck v5.0 is also working correctly on Winamp.

I can only do so much with Classic skins, as such there is no mute button, and it's all in .bmp format (except for the Wacup specific graphics used for the Main Window) for Winamp compatibility.

Ok, I understand. I was expecting too much when you stated you were updating the classic versions for parity with Refugee DeClassified. I'm content to wait for dro to resolve why the modern version is crashing WACUP build #14278.

EDIT:
I guess due to cross posting, I just noticed that x86 build #14282 was released to fix the modern skin crashing issue. I'll install it now and report back on if it fixes things.

I downloaded Refugee AmpDeck v5.0.wsz. It only has .bmp graphic files and the double size option is not replaced with a mute option. So which skin should I download to use with WACUP that has the updates to match the latest Refugee-Declassified modern skin.

Wow, thanx for the quick reply. Who's Classic Modern and which version? The one I use doesn't cause a crash, but the window locations are not saved between sessions.

All the other modern skins I use don't have these issues. I'll wait to see what happens with the next beta release before reporting this to dro.

My configuration of WACUP beta version 1.8.18.14278 crashes as soon as I try to use Refugee-Declassified v1.30. I get a message telling me the x86 version (#14278) is not current and offering to update to the x64 version (#14282) of WACUP. That version is too incomplete for my needs.

Refugee-Declassified v1.30 worked fine with the previous WACUP x86 beta version configured the same way the current version is.

An error-free way of un-selecting anything in the Playlist Editor is to use the command in the context menu that appears when you right-click the "SEL" button on the bottom left side of the PE window. Or, you can use the "Ctrl+Shift+A" keyboard hot key when the PE window is the active window.

I'm not sure what is meant with "a copy of the settings in options in the winamp/wacup menu" and "The browser might have something, as it appears there already"...

The main context menu (right-click on any window's title bar) lists things that can be selected which affect how the app works. When you point to "Options" in that list, you get another sub-menu listing more things. Pointing to the "Browser" item in that sub-menu lets you list another sub-menu of items related to the browser.

Winamp/WACUP is full of context menus. You can right-click anywhere on anything and you often get a menu of choices related to what you right-checked on. This can be a good or bad thing depending on your point of view. I like having more than 1 path to get things done. However, it does take a while to learn where all the context menus are and what they do.

Thank you for the mute button replacement of the double size button. I hadn't tried the speakers mini-mode yet, so also thank you for fixing the bugs before I found them. :)

I did try up-scaling the speakers (by editing their configuration info in the studio.xnf file), but they look best at their default size.

I upscale the main player window to 125%. With all the previous versions, I had to redo the up-scaling between sessions. This version maintains the scaling between sessions. That is also a welcome change.

Somewhere along the way I missed the explanation of the differences between Winamp3 info and Winamp2 info. How do I switch between them?

Happy New Year!

Thank you for the new version. I especially like the animated speakers and their separate woofer, midrange, and tweeter responses.

in build version 1.0.21.7236 there's a visualizer that's a potential seizure nightmare and for those non epilepsy folks like me it still painful to look at. highly recommend yeeting it

What is it's name? You can use the F4 shortcut key to make Milkdrop display the name of the running preset.

What version of WACUP are you using?

That should not happen. Resizing the main player window should scale relative to the top left corner of the window (not the monitor screen).

Hi BillieBlueberry and welcome,

WACUP is being developed by 1 person. From my point of view, it is a minor miracle that it exists at all.

It has been well over a year since the last public preview release. For better or worse, while dro has been more involved with the beta branch, he does keep a log of the reported public preview issues. The fixes and improvements on the beta side will eventually make it to the public preview side. Fixes for some of the current preview issues have already been found.

The beta and preview users help things progress by posting what works well and what doesn't. So please try to be patient and continue posting your issues with the public preview.

The option added a couple of beta builds back to freeze classic skins windows positions goes a long way toward satisfying the reason for this request. Thank you for adding it.

I don't use WACUP to play video files, but I assume the related improvements in this area are also appreciated.

General Discussion / Re: Search Syntax

When you do a general search for anything (word or phrase), all the metadata in your files is looked at. The word "and" could be in 1 or more categories, such as the artist tag, album tag, title tag or some other tag. As you see, a short word could be contained in a larger word. Also, depending on the view you're using to search in, the results returned may or may not show the metadata tag that the word (or larger word) was found in.

You can use the Query Language features to make a custom search query to filter stuff in or out of the search. This is easier said than done. The documentation for the Query Language can be found in the dialog used to edit a Local Library smart view. Select 1 of these views (on the left-hand side of the ML window) and press the "F2" function key, then look near the bottom right-hand side of the edit dialog window that appears for the "Query Help..." button.

After closing the Query Language documentation window, be sure to cancel the smart view edit window to keep from making any accidental changes to the view.
