Latest restricted WACUP beta release is build #21640 (May 11th 2025) (x86 & x64 changelogs)

NOTE: Beta testers are added in a limited & subjective manner as I can only support so many people as part of the beta test program to keep it useful for my needs.

Unless I think you're going to be helpful, not all requests will be accepted but might still be later on. Remember that beta testing is to help me & the limitations currently works for my needs for this project.

Or I get back from trying to have some time off & then after looking into more pressing issues with the recent builds to get a chance to have look into what's actually going on. Now I'm in a position to do that I can see what seems to be going on where the main / playlist windows depending on the skin were briefly appearing & then going minimised with all of the other windows seemingly appearing a short while after most of the core & whatever the gen_ff plug-in is doing on loading has finished.

Initially I've found a way to avoid the the main / playlist windows briefly appearing which also helps to avoid all of the other windows appearing but when you then click to restore it the main / playlist windows will be restored into view as expected but it then takes another minimise & restore action to get everything else working.

So I'll need to spend more time on trying to get the other windows to behave without the extra step which should then allow things to work as expected on all counts as long as trying to hook into what the windows are doing will work. This'd be so much easier if I had my own modern skin engine plug-in or access to gen_ff's source code but I don't so it'll take however long to hopefully get things hacked in.

[edit]
That's taken ~3hrs in total to get something that appears to work whether forcing it to start minimised on loading or if remembering the last state & I no longer see the modern skin engine generated windows briefly appearing so I'm happier with it.

That did it! I uninstalled my x64 version and did a reinstall with x86 version. And now my problem has gone :-)
Thank you so much! And please let me know when x64 version is fixed.

What happens if you try using the x86 build? That can be done with a portable test install.

I suspect you're one of the ones that is having glitching issues with the x64 build which doesn't seem to happen for most or with the x86 build despite it using the same plug-in from me (not so direct) & is something I've still to replicate myself - most likely I've got something being done wrong which is ok with the code when compiled for x86 but not for x64.

What wacup build & build type (x86 or x64) & what output plug-in are you using (the selected one from the dropdown on preferences -> plug-ins -> output) ?

Hi,

there's problem in Wacup when stopping and starting a song, or when skipping to the next song.
At the beginning of the newly started song (or the next song) there is a small clip of audio, like a buffer of the previously song. Very annoying and NOT so in Winamp. What can I do to avoid this in Wacup? Please also listen to the attached file to demonstrate this, and I also added the waveform to make the problem visible. In my example I play a classical piece of audio, and approximately after 5 sec. I press stop and restart it with the play button several times... please listen!

Thanks for any help

OK I managed to get a workaround by setting up shortcut to run winamp and setting it to run in maximized window.

Perhaps prevent it from starting minimized then if it's not functioning properly and always start with restored window then since a user would need to click on taskbar icon twice anyways to properly minimize and this way we would save one click + have proper window at start up? Is that possible?

Then it likely wasn't the playlist & was something else maybe an old 3rd party input plug-in or another type but as you reinstalled that's basically going to have removed whatever was doing it so hopefully it's not a common thing that's causing it to hang on loading as happened for you as there's nothing to triage further now it's working.
