Unless I think you're going to be helpful, not all requests will be accepted but might still be later on. Remember that beta testing is to help me & the limitations currently works for my needs for this project.

Missing ID3v1/ID3v2 tag editing in latest WACUP version
« on: April 19, 2025, 12:10:24 PM »
Hi everyone,

I recently updated to the latest WACUP version (i used an old one from last summer),  and I noticed that the ability to edit ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags is no longer available. This feature is a must have for me, and I used it regularly to manage my MP3 files directly within the player.

After the update, I couldn’t find any way to edit tags as I used to. I ended up rolling back to the previous preview version (v1.99.15.19320), where everything works as expected.

Is there any way to bring back tag editing in the current version (perhaps via a plugin or hidden setting)? Or is this feature planned to be reintroduced in future releases?

Thanks in advance!

It should be able to as mine can (Well, I am on the latest beta which looks to be a newer version than the preview version).

Anyway, It looks like the input plugins handle the meta tags.  The Nullsoft MPEG Audio Decoder (in_mp3.dll) handles reading/writing of tags for MP3 files and such. When I view a file's info I see a ID3v1 and ID3v2 tabs.

So, you might make sure that plugin is enabled and if you configure it all the options are checked.

That's all I can think of for now.

It seems you are right. I installed the latest x64 build, but in this case i don't have the in_mp3.dll in my install folder.

I messed up things a little after, so i'm not sure which one was the exact fix, but i copied the dll from a separate install and installed the latest x86 build. The id3 tabs are came back now, and i can use them again.

Thx for the suggestion!

Ah, yeah, x64 build is a bit different.  I am using the x86 build mainly.

I also have the x64 build installed into a separate folder and it is missing the ID3 tabs when viewing the info for those types of files.

Anyway, glad you got it sorted.

The x86 installer should've installed the re-used in_mp3 as needed unless that went wrong & the 5.666 installer couldn't be obtained so copying dlls shouldn't have been needed. The x64 build doesn't have tagging support for mp3's nor does it have a proper plug-in to handle those files which is why it's different to the x86 build for now.
