File rating is only officially supported at this time for files that are known in the local library since that is used to store them depending on settings as to whether it may or may not also auto-add files unknown to the local library into it). Directly saving ratings into files generally doesn't work as it's plug-in specific even when manually forcing it to try to be used & is why the placeholder preference option is hard-disabled.

Hey dro,

thanks for the reply. Of course I didn't mean the file itself, but the storage in the local library.

I can't assume that the local library is present based on interactions with other users which is why I replied in a manner to try to cover of the different options. All I can suggest is checking the local library maintenance tab & seeing if that's reporting any issues as so far I can't replicate rating for files known / allowed to be added into the local library not then reflecting those changes when going back into the menus.
