Latest WACUP public preview for x86 & x64 is build #21640 (May 11th 2025) (x86 & x64 changelogs)
Latest restricted WACUP beta release is build #21640 (May 11th 2025) (x86 & x64 changelogs)

NOTE: Beta testers are added in a limited & subjective manner as I can only support so many people as part of the beta test program to keep it useful for my needs.

Unless I think you're going to be helpful, not all requests will be accepted but might still be later on. Remember that beta testing is to help me & the limitations currently works for my needs for this project.

General Discussion / Re: Auto update broken?
« Last post by dro on May 10, 2025, 10:37:07 AM »
I never managed to replicate this & as we're now onto build 21622 (as of this reply) which I know has been flagged to others I'm going to assume that this is no longer a problem now that the build is ok to update flag has been enabled again.

Wishlist / Feature Requests / Album Art Plugin Slideshow Mode
« Last post by dsy on May 09, 2025, 08:58:51 PM »
A very important part of listening to music as an experience is the visual media that is usually given along side it.
This goes beyond just the album cover. For example, CD releases of game soundtracks came with booklets that would include key art, character renders, story and world explanations, composer/developer commentary and interviews, sheet music, credits, and potentially even more album specific artwork. In the context of digital backups or releases, even more images can be included such as scans of the actual disc art itself or false disc artwork for the sake of novelty, screenshots, fanart, ect. These are all done by skilled artists in the same way that the music itself is with the intention for the listener to digest it simultaneously with whats being listened to.

In the same way that WACUP will use and read "cover.imgformat" as the default album art within the directory of an album, perhaps WACUP could read from a subfolder titled "images" in the same directory that would take the image contents of that folder and use it for the slideshow mode. Settings could include a shuffled display mode, an editable timer for how long images are displayed before switching to the next, or for the images to switch with playback of a new song in the playlist.

That was mentioned in the changelog notes iirc that it might require having to re-apply things depending on what bad state things had gotten into. Main thing is that its now working ok for you.

I should take partial blame for this as the skin very intentionally messes with the window scaling to copy the behavior of what Winamp/WACUP do, there's nothing stopping you from setting the window scaling but the skin will not remember it (well, it does but it's being reset upon skin loading iirc), this is all really because of DeClassified wanting to provide a base for other people to build new Modern Skins with using Classic Skin assets and also allowing you to break the rules.

If you're feeling adventurous, check out actioninfo.m and look for all instances of setScaling, the code responsible can be safely removed, this should in theory also work for other DeClassified based skins out there although it's unknown if any just swap the assets or have modified the maki scripts (and if they ship them at all).

updated to 21612. had to re-"checkmark" to now five vis plugins (haha), and restart WaCup, and now they load as expected. Thank you! any future vis problems, i will then continue this thread, but for now, it all appears stable and working correctly!

Wishlist / Feature Requests / Re: UI Scaling for 4K and other higher resolutions

The scaling setting should be maintained but it's handled via the re-used gen_ff plug-in from the 5.666 installer & I don't know why that type of skin is having issues with keeping the scaling option when other modern skins work ok (I can replicate declassified not working properly). Also depending on what scaling option you're using with the declassified skin, the 2x or 3x classic skin implementation might work but that doesn't do fractional scaling nor does it help if using one of the other declassified based skins that isn't using the base skin images.

Hi drO, I've been testing WACUP and it's a really, great alternative to Winamp and how it once was.

Apologies if this is considered necro-bumping, but I'm using a modern skin (Declassified), and I need to bump up the scaling in order for it to be usable on modern displays. The problem with WACUP (and with Winamp as well) is if you go to "Skins > Modern Skins > Window Settings" and change the Scaling option to something other than 100%, when you close and restart WACUP, the scaling option defaults back to 100%. Would it be possible to retain the scaling option for the current skin or even retain the scaling option as a global option? TIA!

I have Milkdrop2 on a second Monitor (HD TV) via HDMI cable. Almost every time the song ends and switches to a new song it will crash.  If Milkdrop2 is turned off it will not crash. This is for version WACUP_Preview_v1_99_27_21136_x86. I'm sorry if this has already been reported. I did not see it in the comments.  It dose not do it in the previous builds.

Wishlist / Feature Requests / Access a NAS/Cloud Server Away from home?
« Last post by james301 on April 29, 2025, 08:42:15 PM »
I have a buffalo nas network drive. You can use it as a cloud storage device. I have been using it as a media server.  I would like to see WACUP to be able to access my Net Drive/Cloud via WACUP when I’m away from home. At my friends home, or when I go out of town to visit my Mother, etc…

I would need to be able to put in a web address, Port number, user name, password.
Can WACUP do this sort of thing? If so what do I look for in the documentation or plug-in’s?  IF, not would it be some think you would consider add in to the new build?

Thanks, James.
