Hello. I am requesting a new feature.
I would like an "Album Artist Index" filter because occasionally the "Album Artist" field does not match the "Artist" field, and therefore using "Artist Index" in tandem with "Album Artist" does not produce the desired results.
I don't know if anyone has ever wanted what I am requesting, so I'll attempt to explain the problem with an example situation.
I have a view which filters media by "Artist Index", then "Album Artist", then "Album Art", in that order.
So let's say I first go to the letter "V" in "Artist Index", and then I see all the album artists which begin with the letter "V". Now let's say one of the album artist names is "Various". So I select "Various" and these the results I get:
- Media files where the "Album Artist" field is "Various" AND the "Artist" field begins with the letter "V".
So if I have an album composed of tracks by various artists, the only track I can see in this view is the one track by the band "Voivod" (for example). I won't see any tracks if the album artist is "Various" but the artist begins with a letter other than "V". Of course I can work around this by first selecting "All" in the Artist Index, then "Various", but that defeats the purpose of using an index in my case.
I have many albums by many artists and what I want is to simply organize files from general to specific using the "Album Artist" field: an index based on first letter so I don't have to do a bunch of scrolling, then by full "Album Artist" string, and then by album. So when I select the album art, I want to see all the tracks in that album, not just the tracks where the first letter of the "Artist" field matches the first letter of the "Album Artist" field.
I think an "Album Artist Index" filter would resolve this issue.
Thank you.
