Preview Build Discussion / Playback acting weird
« Last post by saucyknave on November 06, 2025, 10:35:48 PM »
I just installed WACUP x86, build 1.99.41.22982, on my Windows 11 laptop.  I dragged a SomaFM.com m3u file into the main WACUP window.  WACUP clearly tries to play the stream, as the Play icon changes to a Pause icon in the upper left pane but nothing else happens to indicate it's trying to play.  If I press stop and then play, the current streaming song will play.  If I press pause and then play, no audio, and again no indication it's trying to play.

The weirdest thing is if I DO get it to play, it'll play about 1 half a second of the next song and then stop, once again with the play button swapped with the pause icon and we're right back at the start.

Basically, WACUP is only playing a fraction of a second when it switches songs, which includes the startup behavior.

Did I do something wrong when I installed it, or what's going on and how do I get this to work?

Preview Build Discussion / [BUG] Edit Metadata Error
« Last post by Talian on November 06, 2025, 03:23:00 PM »
If you check and then uncheck a field in the Edit Metadata window, even if there are other fields that are checked and filled in with changes, the "Update" button will gray out. In other words, it blindly toggles the update button w/o checking if there are other fields that need to be updated. FYI.

Thanks for all the hard work.

Preview Build Discussion / [BUG] Display Error
« Last post by Talian on November 06, 2025, 03:16:46 PM »
While playing a video, I cleared the playlist, then dragged a group of (374) videos from windows explorer into the newly emptied playlist.
After I did this, the two windows at the top of WACAP (Player and Info windows?) stopped displaying the information on the currently playing video, and began displaying the info for the last video listed on the newly dragged playlist. Current video continued playing normally, just wrong info displayed after drag n drop. FYI.

Thanks for all the hard work.

There are old 3rd party plug-ins for winamp that may still work with wacup that can do that though ymmv on if they'll actually work or not.

I have a URL that is my favorite online station and I wonder if there is a way to record with WACUP what I'm hearing.
Thanks

Visualisations / Re: Goom on WACUP

Is there meant to be an existing winamp plug-in build of this visualisation? Or is it just something that's never existed as that? As a quick search isn't giving me anything obvious that seems to be either a winamp plug-in or a normal windows program to run to see what this is meant to be (comparing to a rendered web page isn't going to be of any use). Plus this all seems to be very linux-focused if it's just xmms source code that's available which doesn't raise my interest to try to work on a potential wacup version tbh.

there is a winamp version of it (i have the 1.9.3 version of goom for winamp) but the 2k4 version for winamp is unfortunately lost. and that's why thelegoboy (and i) asked you to port goom (version 2k4) to winamp/wacup, with that source i posted here some days ago.

goom 2k4 is also available for kodi (windows, android and macos only) and windows media player (9 series or later).

I looked it up on youtube and yes, it is an old visualiser for linux. A port to windows media player has been made, see here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eiQK06EegCI. The link in this video still works but I have not bothered to unzip and test it. Judging by youtube videos, this stuff is rather oldstyle, comparable to milkdrop 1, and not really exciting these days anymore.

No version of that plug-in is stable in wacup which I don't believe is my code being at fault as it's also possible to get a plain 5.666 to fail from what I remember with it but as I can't get a response from the dev of that plug-in from prior attempts there's little that can be done. All I can tell from the various crash reports that keep coming in from it is that it seems to fail within a processing thread of the plug-in.
