Preview Build Discussion / Re: How To Play CD?
« Last post by dro on September 29, 2021, 01:13:27 PM »
Depending on what you were doing, the undo playlist action in the main playlist editor window (better thought of as a temporary queue / scratch list vs what the media library playlists are like) can also be a simpler way to get things back to what had been there prior to what has been set be it loading an audio cd or another playlist, etc if that's what is wanted. Otherwise just add more items into the main playlist however you prefer be it internally or externally.

Preview Build Discussion / Re: Waveform Seeker Display ...

CD entries aren't rendered with how the plug-in currently works as double-accessing an audio CD track for playback & rendering is not a good thing to do. When the status message was being shown in the window (changed to not being shown based on numerous bits of feedback & complaints about it ruining the look of things) then that would show an unsupported message.

For local files it's generally not an issue as long as the plug-in correctly supports multi-access to a file since rendering & playback are being done at the same time (for which not all input plug-ins correctly support that which is why some of the video game formats also don't such rendering).

With an audio CD, that becomes messy quickly & the only 'safe' option would be for me to consider buffering the whole audio track which subject to available memory (another potential issue in itself) would then allow for the dual access that's needed. So that's why an audio cd track is not the same as a local file as despite being a stream of 1s & 0s, getting that data is different with respect to the way that data is read.

General Discussion / Re: WACUP Backup Tool? - Like Winamp Backup tool
« Last post by dro on September 29, 2021, 12:45:18 PM »
The Winamp backup tool partially works with WACUP but as I've been changing some of the settings files used (e.g. the local library & history db files in recent beta builds) it means that tool doesn't recognise the changed files.

I'm probably going to have to remove (temporarily) the backup|restore preferences page or just leave it & add a note about it now being incomplete.

In future I'm probably going to look to offer a built-in backup/restore mode than relying on external tools which need to be updated & waiting for them to adopt any changes (which I can't rely on when they're provided by those not using WACUP). There's also other things that I've got in mind to make migrating settings between an install to be simpler as there's still too many fixed file paths being used which make a backup/restore only really useful if everything is following the same folder layout & that's definitely not something that tends to happen from what I've seen over the years.

I'm also somewhat saddened that what I thought was a relatively obvious to find option in the preferences wasn't found which would have negated most of the need for this thread.

Preview Build Discussion / Re: Issue with Classic Spectrum Analyzer

Are you running WACUP & have the CSA window on a monitor that's placed according to Windows to the left of the main / primary monitor ?

That's the only way I know of this issue being able to happen & relates to off-screen handling changes with the preview build which has been reverted within the beta builds (I don't have an eta on when there'll be a new preview build & new beta testers aren't currently being added).

Preview Build Discussion / Big Clock Issue
« Last post by MourningStar on September 28, 2021, 12:58:46 AM »
I run WACUP all day and I minimize to taskbar prior to my daily pc shutdown at night so, next day at power up it's there and ready to go. I always have had Big Clock active and have decided to fool around with the font options. The issue is that the font size is not saved for next day ops.

thoughts?

Picture says it all.

Can't right click or anything, nothing works in there.

I checked both the "already solved" section as well as this forum as well as doing search but didn't find anyone experiencing the same. I'm using the preview and not the beta as I don't currently have access to that one.

Is this fixed in beta?

General Discussion / Re: Cutting off Songs

Hi Eris,

Triveraguy was not clear about what he is using and what version. The only clue was "a Google search shows it's been around with others since 2002". Since WACUP wasn't available then, it seems he may be talking about Winamp. He also talks about using the internal and a 3rd party method of crossfading. I'm curious if he is also using other 3rd party plug-ins.

I'm using a beta build of WACUP. It is easy to see what plug-ins are being used by the beta and preview builds (and Winamp) by looking in the plug-ins section in the app Preferences.

I don't understand why you say "so this would make it a WACUP issue either way", when we don't know for sure what the OP is using. Once we know that, then others can try to replicate and troubleshoot the issue.

To be clear, I'm not saying this is not a WACUP issue. I'm saying we don't know. That is what I'm sure about.

Are you saying that this problem also happens with WACUP? If this is only a Winamp issue, you should post your concern in the Winamp forum (http://forums.winamp.com/).

It sounds like it may be a crossfading issue, but if the playback cut off still happens when all crossfading is disabled, then it's not related to crossfading.

Are you sure about that?
Remember that not everyone has access to the beta builds and those that don't are using the preview builds.

I'm not sure if the preview builds have dumped most of the older 5.666 provided output plugins, so this would make it a WACUP issue either way.

Skins / Re: How to display elapsed time in percentage?
« Last post by Aminifu on September 26, 2021, 12:53:29 AM »
To anyone using this feature that ariszlo has provided,

I'm seeing something unexpected with the elapsed time percentage pop-up position. I changed the "y" coordinate for text tag in the Winamp Classic Modern skin so that the pop-up would be between the volume seeker bar and seeker bar, instead of it overlapping the volume seeker bar.

I didn't change the pop-up position coordinates for the Defix skin, but when I switched to it, the position of it's pop-up had also moved down. I shutdown WACUP and restarted it with the Defix skin and the position of the pop-up still follows that specified for the Winamp Classic Modern skin instead of the position coordinates in the text tag in the Defix skin.

The new position in Defix is not a problem. I'm just curious as to how it happened. Is it possible that a global position for this pop-up is somehow stored in the "studio.xnf" file?
