Clock Timings
« on: January 07, 2026, 07:38:31 PM »
Hi, I did look for a welcome section but could not find one, so here I am. I have not long had an Audiolab D9 headphone AMP/DAC which is outputting to a power amp. As well as using Apple music on the pc I have stumbled across and installed WACUP to use with flac files on the hard drive. These are sent to the DAC via USB which according to Audiolab is the preferred method, so far so good.

I then discovered the WASAPI driver and that I could enable it within WACUP, reading a bit further in to it and if Google is correct, enabling the clock timing to pull instead of push will allow the Audiolabs onboard clock to deal with it all, as it features a sophisticated and proprietary precision clocking system. And it`s at that point where it`s not so far so good. If I set it to pull instead of push, I am getting no audio at all, other than that everything is set to how it should be in the preferences. I`m no expert so was wondering if anyone had any idea as to whether it`s a WACUP, WASAPI, Audiolab or PC thing, or perhaps a combination of more than one? Thanks for any info.

If push is working then I'd leave it on that. As I really don't know if the pull mode ever worked from the original form of the plug-in before forking it as none of my test setups appear to work when pull mode is enabled but I've not looked into what the api is doing.

Thanks dro, well at least that does not leave me feeling totally stoopid  ;D I have since installed MusicBee and enabled WASAPI, which apparently is built in, and it configures with no issue, and I would say there is an improvement overall in what`s coming out the speakers, but I do love the front end of WACUP. So I guess I`m stuck with that untill such time something can be developed to sort that out if at all. Thanks once again for the help though.

There really shouldn't be any tangible difference in the audio output of any audio player unless dsp/eq stuff is being messed around with. I try my best to ensure that what's decoded is what gets sent to the output which some call flat & others can't tell a difference (all players basically sound the same to my aging ears). If another program better suits your needs then you should use that instead.
