Latest WACUP public preview for x86 & x64 is build #20202 (September 28th 2024) (x86 & x64 changelogs)
Latest restricted WACUP beta release is build #20202 (September 28th 2024) (x86 & x64 changelogs)

NOTE: Beta testers are added in a limited & subjective manner as I can only support so many people as part of the beta test program to keep it useful for my needs.

Unless I think you're going to be helpful, not all requests will be accepted but might still be later on. Remember that beta testing is to help me & the limitations currently works for my needs for this project.

Song Ratings not displaying in File Info
« on: September 24, 2024, 04:27:26 PM »
Idk if it's the skin I'm using or a file corruption issue I have but none of my songs that have ratings display that rating at the top of my Wacup. However clicking on the stars does correctly change the rating in the file.

What is the file type of the files you're having issues with? As not all file formats support embedded rating metadata & aspects of wacup's rating handling will mean its only able to be stored in the local library & not the file itself. Also can you confirm if this is happening with the current preview build #20088 please.

MP3, M4A, WAV, FLAC, and OGG all have the issue. I don't know of a file format I have that doesn't have this issue, it might be my install or something?

I've still not been able to replicate this either with builds 20088 (current preview build as of this reply) nor 20202 (dev/beta build as I reply but will be going up shortly as a new preview build) so I'm a bit stumped on why there's such an issue since the information is seemingly present in the local library per your screenshot.

Am a bit stumped since this should just be working fine so one option is try to make a portable test install separate of the one you're already using (the installer has such a mode to do that) & then see if importing files into that still has the issue - that'll at least mostly rule out it being a local library db problem.

This worked perfetly! I must've had some issue of using a skin with a wrong version or something but now with a portable build and all the exact same settings and songs the ratings are viewable! For some reason most of my songs don't have the ratings they had in the previous version, but that's not as big a deal

It now working seems to point to it likely have been a slightly corrupted local library db which is where the ratings will have been stored in & is why trying out the new test install doesn't have them.

What you could try to do to get them back is to either use the library db import option (media library window -> library button -> import -> import legacy (external) db & point it to the old install settings folder (typically %appdata%\wacup\plugins\ml).

Alternatively in the other install, use ?rating=x in the search filter on the root local library view (where x is from 1 to 5) & then use the 'save as...' action on the view (button on the bottom) & save that out as an m3u8 playlist file before putting that into the main playlist of the new install & then batch selecting & setting the rating value that applies to them via the right-click menu after having selected all of them. A bit convoluted but it's maybe a simpler way to check first that what's about to be set is what's expected compared to the other option above.

That's more or less what I've already done, thank you so much for the help you seem to give out 24/7 :)
