Latest restricted WACUP beta release is build #20202 (September 28th 2024) (x86 & x64 changelogs)

NOTE: Beta testers are added in a limited & subjective manner as I can only support so many people as part of the beta test program to keep it useful for my needs.

Unless I think you're going to be helpful, not all requests will be accepted but might still be later on. Remember that beta testing is to help me & the limitations currently works for my needs for this project.

How to start a track from the beginning....
« on: November 25, 2020, 07:40:04 PM »
Hi

How do I (re)start a track from the beginning when using the option "remember track play position" ?

I always use the Waveform Seeker which do not allow me to use the original slider

Without the option activated, I can Right click on the Play button to (re)start at 0:00

I tried the 'Jump to:" 0:00 but still playing at the current track position...

Thanks for your help

I'm not able to test this behavior in my configuration because I can't find the stated option. Where exactly is it?

I see an "Restore playing position  (This turns auto start on)" option. Is this what Ysl is talking about?

Clicking on the waveform seeker should seek to that position selected as long as the item being played supports it.

There isn't an override option for the position restore option for which I'll have to come up with some sort of mode.

With the "Restore playing position  (This turns auto start on)" option enabled or disabled, I'm able to use the waveform seeker and the seeker bar in the main player to seek to any position in a playing song.

I don't understand why there is a need for an override for this option.

Thank you all for taking time to reply.

I use Big Bento Modern Windows 10 Edition

I don't remember where I did activate the option "remember track play position" but I like it because it is useful for me. But you know it now, sometimes I would like to play a track at 0:00 and I don't not find how...

Even if the track start at the last recorded position, I would like an option to jump at 0:00 like right clicking on the Play button

In preferences, in the 2 pages for Playback/Autoplay, everything is unckecked

When seeking on the waveform seeker, it's almost impossible for me to go to the 0:00 position with the mouse (it's like out of range and go nowhere or 0:06 or 0:13 (track is 1 hour long)

It would be so simple if right clicking on the Play button worked...

Thanks again

The 'autoplay' options aren't what is being used to control the feature noted (they only relate to initially starting WACUP). The per-file resume option is handled via the 'History' plug-in. Within the History view it is possible to clear the starting position though I get that it needs a more obvious option to achieve a 'clean' start.

With the waveform seeker window, the larger the file the harder it is to seek so I might as a quicker solution add an option in that to restart playback but I agree that a convenient way is needed that'll work irrespective of the skin & plug-ins that have also been installed which something on the play button would make the most sense as a 'play/restart from start'.

A new public preview will be released once testing of the beta builds gets to something that is stable enough for wider consumption.

I've only just done a new beta build after almost 3 months replacing a lot more of winamp's code which hasn't proved stable at the moment but a fix is coming for that.

With other issues still on my list to resolve I'm hoping to have a new preview build ready by mid-December (give or take a bit depending on what crops up).

I was not aware that Ysl was talking about the preview version. I'm using version 1.0.14.6050 of the WACUP beta and version 1.1.5.2 of the Big Bento Modern Windows 10 Edition skin. My copy of this skin does restart playback from it's beginning when I right-click on the Play/Pause button. I'm also able to restart playback from the file's beginning if I click just before the start of the moving seek bar image (on the far left side). I've also selected the appearance option to use the integrated waveform seeker instead of the separate window.

Other skins provide a context menu when right-clicking on the Play button. These context menus include a Play/restart command.

As for the media library History view, I leave the Play Offset column blank so that if I choose to play a file from this view it will start at it's beginning.

If the issue is related to file length, my longest file is around 10 minutes. I listen to podcasts in my browser and it has no problem restarting a podcast.

It's all working as expected from what I can tell especially if the History restore option is enabled as that will force a jump to the stored offset when play occurs irrespective of how it's being triggered whereas what's needed is an override for the override option :)

Seeking to the start of a long track in waveform seeker has always been tricky as at that scale a few pixels can easily cover over half a minute.

Beta version 6050 is working pretty much as expected for me. Where exactly is the History restore option you're talking about?
