Latest restricted WACUP beta release is build #18654 (March 24th 2024) (x86 & x64 changelogs) | Latest WACUP public preview is build #17040 (September 30th 2023) (x86 only)

NOTE: Beta testers are added in a limited & subjective manner as I can only support so many people as part of the beta test program to keep it useful for my needs.

Unless I think you're going to be helpful, not all requests will be accepted but might still be later on. Remember that beta testing is to help me & the limitations currently works for my needs for this project.

Wishlist / Feature Requests / AAAh bloody .cue files..
« on: June 09, 2022, 02:26:04 PM »
Can you please add an option to disable .cue files from being indexed and used the playlist window if you drag and drop folders.. containing.. .cue flies.. the damn thing starts adding the same mp3 files again from the cue... and its not like wacup useless playlist even bothers to split cue files into actual useful sections like mp3directcut does.. so its become a damn annoying if I just want to add a bunch of folders into the playlist without derp amp indexing the containing cue files.. I just want the audio files..

It's fine when you index folders in wacup media library and it doesn't even bother with cue files.. but it would be great if there were an option to have the playlist not include them in cases where you drop a folder into the playlist.. it would be nice if it were smart enough to not bother adding the cue file.. as the mp3 will already be in that folder... and smart enough if that if you  dran and drop just a cue file then it will add it as it seems like the intention.. but it is absoltely not the intention when drag and dropping a folder(s)

i hope this makes sense.. its damn annoying.. especially as I said winamp never bothered taking a cue file and splitting it into individual tracks in the playlist...

sorry quick rant feature request.. been annoying me for damn ages.

wish the wacup playlist would start getting some major improvements anyway.

Wishlist / Feature Requests / Smart Views... Cover Art per track view?
« on: February 24, 2021, 05:48:43 PM »
So I like to use soundcloud, and I like that the 'likes view' shows each track with cover art..

Sadly, Winamp does not have a view that shows individual tracks with cover art.. only album art, and thus all tracks under that album are sent into the playlist (I thin kthere is an option to not send all the tracks in the medialibrary view into the playlist? but its to much of hassle to switch that around everytime I do want medialibrary sent into the playlist)

Anyway is there a way to get it show the track art, it would at least make up for the playlist view never supporting anything like that..

Currently if I double click a cover art it loads any songs under that album cover art into the playlist..

I'd like to show all tracks with cover art (or just empty square if none) and then if I double click on these tracks it loads the track+ other tracks into the playlist, essentially anytime I want to play a new track I'll double click the track art.. but at least if don't do anything else the playlist will be filled with all the tracks of the smart view, instead of currently if I double click the cover art, it will load only the tracks under that alblum into the playlist.. basically being rubbish.

So when creating a 'Smart View' for the medialibrary, there would be another option for just 'Simple Track' :D

'Simple' view is what I prefer, would be nice if 'Simple' view just had an column to show track art :)

or just a better playlist.. but then I been wanting that for like 15years.

I have an issue with changing skins using the context menu… instead of changing the skin to the one clicked on it would change to the one shown below.? Had to use options>skins bit to change skins properly

Skins / Re: Big Bento Modern - final release v1.13
« on: March 03, 2019, 11:40:32 PM »
Well maybe it isn't ideal but there is really only 3 reasons I still use Winamp these days.. one is my medialibrary and second is the chapterlist plugin for cpro and I guess 3rd is cpro single gui type skins, trying to make in something similar to all that winamp in that foobar garbage isn't that easy.... both medialibrary and chapterlist have been in use for many years and have so much data on the music I play that its hard to just move to another media player.

Still I've been thinking starting a pet project using javafx or Unity for a crossplatform media player and just re-implementing chapterlist its such a simple extension but so useful for me, and with the direction Unity is going with supporting low end stuff better on mobile and also the Project Tiny, I dunno maybe just make my own is the way to go..at least I could design the frontend the way I always wanted and I never minded a single gui, winamps detachable windows only ever worked for classic skins and I never really cared for it much as I always wanted the medialibrary and playlist in view (playlist also never bothered supporting tabs an inimproved playlist view like aimp or foobar) and then cPro ext and skins worked so well.. but none of these modern skins for winamp were all that friendly for people to make new skins or customize layout...

maki and xml are just not great anymore to use, bit of dying art doing anything for winamp in terms of skinning or even plugins... so yeah glad Wacup exists it will hold me out for a while, plus I'm on win10 and the official winamp is broken with cpro, but for me I see cross platform (linux/android/ windows) being where I'd rather go and have a media player that works across them all and not having to find some inferior one to use.. I'm still so shocked spotifiy media player is so bloody crap and they get shittons of money.. so adding support for that (ie premium account support can use the api to get complete songs) would also be a thing to do (I believe there is already a unity asset supporting that functionality so it would be a good start) .. not even a fan of electron can't stand javascrap over usage in the industry but the chrome dev inspector works so well and css/html element layouts are something anyone could get into making skins for so that's really the only reason I mentioned it, but yeah it wouldn't be easy to support.

Skins / Re: Winamp New Concept 2018 - Classic Skin
« on: March 03, 2019, 11:11:00 PM »
I'm not going to say it's nice.. its everything I despise about this 'modern' flat crap gui design that is going on.. taking the classic skin and regressing it back to what it might probably might aswel have looked like after a 30mins in photoshop, before the author then spent hours/days on working on the final design with gradients and bevels to give it more style and sense of lighting/shadow and sense of distinction between various player elements. Like buttons that actually look like pressable buttons and not just bits of random floating f-ing text bits all over the place.

Would gladly fire all so called 'gui' designers for doing this sort of design.... gradients work, borders work, subtle bevels work, color pallets consisting of more than 3 primary colors work.  ..its not hard, it just takes actual improving on skill.

yeah basically modern design is shit and lazy uninspired slop that you could get a child to make with some basic training in drawing shapes in any paint program.

but I get it.. your OS (ie winblows 8/10 /chrome garbage etc) has decided that cheap dumb downed interfaces are easier to do for scaling dpi's and various screen resolutions and increasingly dumb sheep like population.. and so you're just trying to make things fit into this ugly interface world.

Skins / Re: Big Bento Modern - final release v1.13

Well I've always considered bento to be pretty ugly in design, but would like to find some way of modding in that wavebar seeker timeline into the cpro insomnis skin, I just need some pointers on where to get started as bento isn't even a cpro skin and I have no idea where to start with skinning winamp.

Kinda wish was a modernized winamp skin system that just use html/css much like electron based apps.. would be great and cross platform, would be a huge boost to a newer skinning system for winamp.. the current xml based one is just so messy and the lack of being able to inspect elements and just do css styling is so much more easier.

I like that Wacup has a waveform for the timeline to seek, its much better, sadly I've always found the layout of bento to complete suck, why on earth is there not a skin where the timeline/waveseek covers the entire length of the gui, that way you can stretch it out as much as you want.

Closet I remember wa  MMD3 which was designed this way, and then ofc most the much better cPro skins.. actually really glad cPro is built into Wacup, haven't tested it yet, though I presume the cPro extensions will work aswel right?

Is there any docs on skinning and making your own cPro/Wacup skin? or better yet could anyone implement the waveform seek timeline into the my favourite cPro skin https://www.wincustomize.com/explore/winamp/1640/ imo the most slickest of skins, hard to fault, though the lack of proper media icons would be a one fault.
