Latest WACUP public preview for x86 & x64 is build #21136 (March 9th 2025) (x86 & x64 changelogs)
Latest restricted WACUP beta release is build #21136 (March 9th 2025) (x86 & x64 changelogs)

NOTE: Beta testers are added in a limited & subjective manner as I can only support so many people as part of the beta test program to keep it useful for my needs.

Unless I think you're going to be helpful, not all requests will be accepted but might still be later on. Remember that beta testing is to help me & the limitations currently works for my needs for this project.

Systray/Notification Area Issue
« on: February 17, 2021, 06:29:48 PM »
Observation :

When I minimize the app I still have playback control via mouse-hover over the taskbar icon. However, if I set the app to reside in the system tray, when I minimize the app there is no taskbar icon and, therefore, no playback control.

It would be nice if the playback control icons were there when I mouse-hover over the systray icon instead of a tooltip-type message appearing. Is there a way to have both, or do I, for now, do without the systray option and create a wishlist item for this?

The preview & controls you get over a taskbar button is all down to the OS offering that as something & would be a pain to try to exactly replicate for the notification area (assuming you also mean the window preview) as it needs to account for being a visible or hidden icon (if it's collapsed into the OS icon popout) which I can't remember if that's an API to determine that or not. Not to say something couldn't be done with a generic type of popup, just not sure if it's something that'd be as nice to use as you might be hoping for.

understood, ... ok - then instead of replicating that behavior in the notification area, what about having both, i.e. notification area icon AND taskbar icon? Just thinkin' out loud.

I'll have to check later tonight but I thought I'd got a mode to keep it always on the taskbar even when minimised (due to complaints at the time with it not being hidden related to an unintended behaviour change).

One other option is pinning wacup to the taskbar will keep it there to access the preview when minimised (is how I use it).

Preferences -> General -> Taskbar -> Taskbar Icon | Jump List -> uncheck 'Hide WACUP from the taskbar when its minimised (like Winamp)
Note: this is subject to whether WACUP is pinned to the taskbar.'

That should keep things as expected & is what I've got enabled along with the pinning (couldn't remember but now I'm back home I've been able to check :) ).

Yes, I knew of this option and I'm such a hammerhead for not mentioning it initially. As per my other thread regarding having WACUP start with the pc power-up, a taskbar icon will already be present (so, pinning not necessary). This being the way I will go means there is no 'need' for it to reside in the notification area.

However, as I was posting this I noticed your following post. Apparently, unchecking that box produces the desired results without pinning (which I do not want to do). I now have my cake and eating of same begins.

thx!
