Looking for a good WEB Browser

My first browser came bundled with the AOL package, back in the 1980s. Then I switched to Internet Explorer. After that, I was happy with FireFox and it's large group of extensions for several years. When it dropped support for many of my favorite extensions, I switched to Pale Moon. Pale Moon was based on FireFox and provided support for many of the extensions that FireFox had dropped. Eventually, Pale Moon changed and also dropped support for some of the FireFox extensions I liked. So I gave up on FireFox extensions and switched to Vivaldi, which is Chromium-based. The last few years Vivaldi had served me well, but it has developed issues in the last several months. Most annoying is it's failure to reliably provide the live feed for the CNN news site.

I'm now testing the new Microsoft Edge. So far it seems pretty good. I have not tried any of it's limited extensions. Many of the apps that come bundled with the OS I have no use for, but this one may be a winner.

I always keep the browsers I use updated to their most recent version. This may be a problem itself, since some updates are quickly replaced with new updates due to unintended bugs. Based on this history of web browser usage, can anyone suggest a good browser for me to try or is it time to return to FireFox?

I also browse FOX News. I like to get input from both sides. But let us leave politics out of this. What browser do you use?

I've stuck with Firefox during the changes & am happy with it compared to Chrome (just don't like the Chrome ui & other things niggle me about it). I don't use many extensions (fewer the better with browsers imho) & I didn't before the changed what was supported.

Palemoon.

I've been surfing almost 3 decades now(does 'Mosaic' ring a bell?). I do not use extensions and am more concerned with the performance hit a running browser would inflict. Thru-out that time I tried them all. Most of  that time it was IE. Switched to Firefox, liked it and remained with it. Along came Chrome and gave it a brief try. It was this utility that produced the awareness of multiple task entries for this browser, so returned to Firefox. Then Firefox underwent a code overhaul and started doing the same thing as Chrome. Switched to Palemoon and all seems good. Have not spent much time with Edge. Will stay with Palemoon for now as it is still showing me a single task and the footprint remains extremely light.

p.s. fwiw, the first web browser, called WorldWideWeb, was created in 1990 by Sir Tim Berners-Lee.

The problems start if you are willing to trade privacy with speed. That's why Google's Chrome is out of the question for me. I am sticking with Firefox + several combined privacy and security plugins. You cannot surf the web without protection in the same way you can't use a PC without a good and non-free antivirus, therefore I have learned to live with the degradation of performance due to all the protections I use.

For secondary use in known sites I use Feodor's MyPal, a lightweight Palemoon fork (find it in github, it also works fine in XP), so Mourningstar has a good point here, plus the ematrix plugin, because I can't surf without tight control of any and all javascript. I use the second browser to download things that my armored Firefox doesn't want to, by dragging the url from FF to MyPal.

Mits has a good point about privacy, but that horse left the barn long ago. Other than staying off the internet, there is no way to fully prevent personal info from being collected and shared. Even if a VPN is used to provide fake info to everyone else, the VPN itself still knows the correct info and can share it even if they claim not to.

In the beginning you had to search for and pull in the content you were interested in. Now everything is pushed at you. At least the targeting has gotten much better and what is pushed is more likely to be something you are interested in. Still, my pet peeve is ads. I do what I can to stop pop-ups and limit all ads in general. But I know that the webmasters of most of my favorite sites use ads to help defray their costs. Dro has yet to do this, but I would understand if he did.

MourningStar has a good point about Pale Moon only using one process (task). I've gotten used to not having the Firefox extensions I liked years ago, so I will return to using Pale Moon as my main browser for now.
