Latest restricted WACUP beta release is build #20202 (September 28th 2024) (x86 & x64 changelogs)

NOTE: Beta testers are added in a limited & subjective manner as I can only support so many people as part of the beta test program to keep it useful for my needs.

Unless I think you're going to be helpful, not all requests will be accepted but might still be later on. Remember that beta testing is to help me & the limitations currently works for my needs for this project.

Try right-clicking on the albumart image. It should offer an "Open Folder" command that will open the folder the song is in and highlight it.

Hi thisisbbc,

Sorry for the late reply and sorry you're having problems with MusicIP Mixer and your flac files. Most of my files are mp3, but the flac files I have were analyzed without problems. My files are on a solid state NTFS drive, so that may be the reason why.

Anyway, here is another article about MusicIP Mixer (https://oldmanmetal.com/2019/04/15/musicip-mixer-playlist-generator-extraordinaire/) for any others who may want to try it. It explains how to register the app which will enable it's power tools. MusicIP Mixer will not use the BPM metadata tag when making playlists. But, it's been my experience that using BPM is not a good way to match the sonic similarity of other files, with a similar BPM, to that of a seed song.

Hi dro,

I thought the Nullsoft Disk Writer plug_in only works with local files (converting formats and saving the result). Does it also allow saving streams WACUP is playing?

Downloading a song without paying for it is stealing. Search google for many ways to download songs with and without paying for them. For example, there are sites that let you paste a link to a you-tube video that will extract the audio from the video into a downloadable mp3 file. You get the song and the artist (others involved) who performed gets nothing. There are also sites where you can download songs for a reasonable fee and the artists (and others involved) get paid.

The lower ATF string looks correct. There is a bug in the prior beta version #19516. Try the latest version #19762, if you have access to it. Otherwise you will need to wait for an updated public preview version.

Resolved Issues / Re: Letters
« on: June 30, 2024, 10:01:45 PM »
I think the OP is talking about accent marks (i.e diacritics, for example the mark over the second e in Beyoncé). What I usually do is copy and paste from a text file in which the accent mark is used. Another way is to use Alt codes when typing the letter. A google search can provide Alt code lists for all sorts of accent marks and/or symbols.

General Discussion / Re: Pop-up Notification Window for Classic Skins

Ok, I'll wait for you to come up with something. I also don't like that I can't make the old toaster plug-in only work with classic skins. When using modern skins, I get 2 notifier pop-ups. 1 provided by the skin and 1 by the plug-in.

The old toaster plug-in also interferes with the correct skinning of classic skins when switching to another classic skin than the one I started a session with. The original developer of this plug-in stopped providing updates several years ago. So any suggestions for a replacement would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Eris,

I'm not saying Ysl's suggestion is not reasonable. I'm just saying WACUP provides other default ways to restart a song. Also, it is possible to reconfigure the previous button, so that it can provide a restart function. IMO, this is both the good and bad of WACUP (and Winamp for that matter), there are many different ways to do stuff and many configurable options that let the user change how stuff can be done.

Have you right-clicked on the previous button? You should get a pop-up menu with a lot of commands you may find useful. The first command listed (Previous) is what is executed by default when you left-click on the button.

Hi Ysl,

Your first post in this thread was answered by dro, the developer. As you see, even with all he does by himself, he does take time to respond to those who take the time to post stuff.

It looks like you are using the Big Bento Modern or Big Bento Modern Windows 10 edition modern skin. When I point to the pause button on the versions I have, I get a tooltip that says if I right-click then the playing item will restart (which does just that for me). Maybe you are not using the latest version of these skins. I have version 1.2.3 of both.

What you see in the top left corner of the pop-up notifier (in your screenshot) is the playlist order number of the playing item followed by the total number of items in the playlist. I'm not saying that some way to provide the order number of an album item followed by the total number of album items should not be provided. I'm just saying it may not be a simple thing to do.

General Discussion / Pop-up Notification Window for Classic Skins
« on: June 17, 2024, 02:49:42 PM »
I like small pop-up notification windows that display info related to the item currently playing in WACUP. They are also useful when WACUP is minimized or behind other apps on my desktop. After much testing, I have found one that works very well with the modern skins I use. It displays the item's albumart along with other related info (artist, title, album, etc.). It is easy and simple to configure.

I'm now looking for something similar to use with classic skins. I've been experimenting with the old toaster plug-in developed for Winamp. It's configuration dialog is not very intuitive and sometimes settings are not retained between sessions. Can anyone reading this post suggest something else I could possible use?

"1- In the Multi Content View, I would like to see track number AND total track (of album or playlist) like 4/12 instead of 4"

This one should be easy to implement...I'm I right ?

Well it is not as simple as one may think. This idea has been discussed on the forum before. You can use the forum's search feature to look for the related posts or wait to see if dro will take time out to provide his thoughts on the matter. He is doing all the development work on WACUP by himself and a lot of the webmaster stuff for this forum as well, so it may take him a little while to get to you.

One thing to think about is that many songs are released as stand-alone items (which is not a new thing). They may take a while or never get added with other songs on an album. Another thing, is how to best handle things technically. A single x/y data entry or 2 separate x and y entries.

What I am looking for is an easy way to find the cover of a song TO DOWNLOAD it and then add it the the .mp3 file...

That is mainly what I use the skin that I suggested for. I let the skin start the google search for the album or artist, then I select "images" at the top of the returned page. This shows me multiple images that I can then right-click on and download whichever one I want to my computer. I then use MP3tag (there are many other apps that can be used) to embed the downloaded image file in the mp3 file I want it in.

MP3tag can also play the music file, search for and show you various images that you can select from to embed, which I suppose is the easiest and fastest thing to do. But I like to use WACUP to play my music files and the steps I outlined above are easy enough for me to do while listening to my music.

For variety, I often use different images for songs from the same album to keep from having multiple files with the same image.

If I left click, it just Play/Pause, no restart... If I right click, the cover art reload and I have a 1/4 second sound interruption.
Did not find a way to restart the song....

What skin are you using, that combines the play and pause functions? All the classic and modern skins I use, work as I stated. When I left-click the play button (not the pause button) in their main player window, playback starts over. If I right-click it, I get a sub-menu that lets me select other commands.

If the default functions of the main player window's play button have been changed in your configuration, the fastest way to get them back is to do a clean reinstall of the app.

2- When left clicking on the Cover art area, left to the Multi Content View, I would like my browser to open Google IMAGE with Artist and title tags as search text (for single (not album) cover search)

...

I use a modern skin called "Defix Hi-End" (it is attached below). It can be configured to display the playing track's albumart in it's playlist editor window (select the skin settings command in WACUP's main right-click menu). When you right-click on the image you get a pop-up that lets you start a google album art search in your default browser.

If you have entered the corresponding metadata in the playing track's media library record, when you left-click on the headings (title, artist or album) to the right of the albumart image it starts a google search in your default browser for the data listed.
