Latest WACUP public preview for x86 & x64 is build #20202 (September 28th 2024) (x86 & x64 changelogs)
Latest restricted WACUP beta release is build #20202 (September 28th 2024) (x86 & x64 changelogs)

NOTE: Beta testers are added in a limited & subjective manner as I can only support so many people as part of the beta test program to keep it useful for my needs.

Unless I think you're going to be helpful, not all requests will be accepted but might still be later on. Remember that beta testing is to help me & the limitations currently works for my needs for this project.

Any way to make minor changes to an existing skin?
« on: October 23, 2024, 09:59:55 AM »
I've been using WINAMP/WACUP for a while now but always with the default skins. I don't know basically anything about skin editing and the resource on it kinda seemed daunting. If someone could point me in the right direction of what files to edit or what to learn for what I'd like to change that would be super helpful!

From the attached image I'd like to:
Remove the text circled in red. I don't really care what my files stats are
Remove or be able to further resize the area in green. There's a hard cap on how small that region can be and I don't often care how much time is left in a song or need the pause/play/skip buttons because I use the media keys on my keyboard for that.
Remove the tabs in pink. After taking this screenshot I learned I can remove the history tab but I exclusively use local music so I don't need the other tabs (this one is least important to me)

You can do some of that by editing Big Bento Modern's xml's and MAKI sources. Find links to some skinning tutorials in Victhor's Winamp skinning resources topic. FrisbeeMonkey's web site is no longer online but luckily it is archived in the Wayback Machine.

The bits concerning you circled in pink belong to the Media Library and are not part of the skin in any way.
Maker of Plugins, I suppose.

For the pink section, go to preferences -> plug-ins -> media library -> un-check the plug-ins you don't need & that'll remove those items after a wacup restart. Everything else would involve editing the skin as already mentioned (the red block might be able to be done via xml edits only otherwise you're going to be looking at maki editing to achieve things).

This is super helpful, thank you! I didn't see that the skin has the .m files available for download, I was wondering how to edit a .maki lmao. Since I don't know what files store what info I just opened all of them searching for "KBPS" to get rid of the red section and that worked like a charm. However I have no idea where I could go about finding the green section, any ideas?

I'm tearing my hair out a little bit just trying to find any way to change the minimum size of that green box. After trial and erroring my way through about 2 dozen .m and .xml files all I've managed to do is delete the text and buttons in that zone, but no matter what I can't seem to collapse the box into the edge of the window like you can with the playlist on the right or the local library on the left. It seems to have some kind of minimum size it's allowed to be compressed to that I can't for the life of me find the value that lets me change that.
