A Modern Skin aimed to emulate the Windows Classic look and feel before Microsoft got rid of the classic theme option in Windows 8 entirely.
It is aimed at those who use Windows Classic on their machines, or just simply miss the aesthetic look and feel.
What does this feature, besides carrying the features of WCM?
- Near accurate Windows Classic imitation
- Direct support for WACUP (WinAmp Community Update Project)
- Multiple Visualizers for your eye candy enjoyment (removed with the Lite version)
- Proper Color Theming support
As this is my first major Modern Skin (which uses Victhor's beautiful Winamp Classic Modern as its base), I would appreciate any feedback for future improvements.
If you want to follow the changelog and report issues (which is recommended), follow through this (https://github.com/0x5066/Winamp2000SP4) link, and drop any bugs you may find, however, feedback/suggestions here is highly appreciated
Latest version changelog:
v1.3.2-Lite: It's so great we skipped one version revision!
What's New?
Not a whole bunch, this is pretty much a stripped down version of the skin, which now includes a few features from master and removes a few things as well, see if you can spot 'em.
- No extra visualizers
- Beta Playlist Editor
- A few new Winamp Visualizer color themes
- The Winamp Visualizer in its own window (carrying the same set of color visualizers the Main Window has)
Download here (https://github.com/0x5066/Winamp2000SP4/releases/tag/v1.3.2-Lite).

I've noticed that my skin was pinned (thank you dro :) ), this does give me some motivation to work on it again, but due to working again and having little to no energy to sit down and tear this apart again, I'm unable to properly provide updates and fixes to some issues that have cropped up/are on my todo list to fix.
Thanks to anyone so far who has downloaded this skin and enjoyed using it, that alone makes me happy. :)
-
Oh hey I'm glad I noticed this post. A skin from my favourite Windows. Does it skin all the components of WACUP?
-
Yeah, it should.
-
Does it skin all the components of WACUP?
That's a typical question for a classic skin, this is a modern one so it means the job is well done XD
-
As though I am unable to edit my first post, this is gonna do.
The skin is now (actually a few weeks now) on Github (https://github.com/The1Freeman/Winamp2000SP4), featuring the latest and greatest features that have been implemented over the time, the current project is to implement Windows Classic like color theming support, as for now, bug fixes and other adjustments have been made, as well as adding Winamp/WACUP detection, thanks to Victhor who helped me out on this one.
If anyone who would like to help me get this thing become better than it already is, download the master branch and go on a bug hunt (or if you live on the edge, you are free to use the development version as well) and report issues, or if you're someone who knows how to handle the Modern Skin engine far better than I do, feel free to help me implement the basis for color theming.

Well, it seems as though there's still some activity going on after what looked to be dead silence.
v1.03.5 has been released, which includes a slew of fixes and overall improvements to the UI as well as some consistency that was much needed through out the skin.
https://github.com/The1Freeman/Winamp2000SP4/releases
The new release can be downloaded here.
-
v1.03.6 has been released, it's a small release though, nothing big, I promise.
https://github.com/The1Freeman/Winamp2000SP4/releases/tag/v1.03.6
-
Version 1.03.7 has been released a long time ago (https://github.com/The1Freeman/Winamp2000SP4/releases/tag/v1.03.7), however, people never really bothered to scroll down to the thread and really read through it (reminds me of how people were mindlessly clicking next on the Winamp installer), thus if you are using a older version of Winamp 2000 SP4, you will not receive any support from me and you are on your own, so do me a favor and please upgrade to the latest version.
-
Version 1.1 has been released just now, I highly recommend getting this build as it features quite a lot from last time's release...
-
New Update is good, working fine.
except for one color, Item Selected in Playlist test is too dark. but i don't think we can do anything as it seems to be from Windows color/highlight handling
-
That is the unfortunate part of the playlist editor not being able to have some sorta windows behaviour, believe me i tried to get around this
-
I know I haven't posted a lot and kept the release notes of v1.1 quite vague, for which I apologize.
A lot of work has gone under improving everything under the hood to ensure new additions can be made a bit more easier than before (though it'll take some time to get that done).
For those that are following the development on the WACUP discord server, you know what's coming, but for those that don't...

It'll speak for itself.

I think it's fair to announce the first release candidate of Nullsoft Winamp 2000 SP4 v1.2, grab it here (https://github.com/The1Freeman/Winamp2000SP4/releases/tag/v1.2RC1)!
-
Well well, it seems as version 1.2 has finally entered public stable release :)
Do read the first post!
-
And we're live!
Finally, after many months of silence and some activity on Github, version 1.3 is finally released!
Enjoy!
-
Oops, accidentally forgot to post about v1.3.2-Lite... I guess Christmas does come early...?
No ETA on when v1.4 comes.
-
Bit of a life update on things: I'm working on v1.4 and have already released two Release Candidates (https://github.com/0x5066/Winamp2000SP4/releases/tag/v1.4-RC2), however as things are, apprenticeship has slowed down my progress on things and as exams are creeping closer and closer, I fear that v1.4 will take just a little longer to get done.
Winamp2000SP4 has gained a co-author, mirzi, who you might know from the fantastic WinampXP (https://github.com/mirzi1/WinampXP) (which also deserves a whole lot more attention imo ;)) and he's been an incredible help of figuring out odd issues or fixing them if possible.
The skin also gained a Twitter account (https://twitter.com/NSWA2000SP4) where I ramble post about various things and/or show off something I'm working on that'll see the light on the repository (latest additions being the new and improved song timer display and an improved UI for the main window), highly recommend you follow and spread the word.
Other than that, all I can suggest is to try the latest RC or try the latest commits and send feedback my way.
Thank you.

gave the new 1.4rc2 a try and I have to say I am not a fan of the Sidebar View in the Playlist Editor, it takes up a lot of space to show information I have displayed elsewhere and unfortunately as it stands, if I try to shrink the playlist window horizontally, my entire playlist disappears and this Sidebar View is the only thing that remains.
If I could hide it by shrinking the playlist window, that would be awesome. I generally keep my playlist window at about half the width of the main window.
-
Thank you for your detailed feedback, I love reading stuff like that!
I've on and off been thinking of adding an auto hide feature as well as adding a button to disable the sideview entirely, should one not like it.
I don't know when I'll get around to do it (life is taking ahold of me and I've shifted focus on a different project for now), but I can guarantee that it'll find itself in v1.4
-
glad my comment was well-received. I'm always self conscious about providing criticism cause I don't want to come off like a jerk or narcissistic like my issues matter more. looking forward to the next full release!
-
Please, I'm always appreciative of feedback (as that's the one thing I rely on and so far you're one of the few who's done so).
I honestly can't tell you when the full release will come, as it might take longer after I'm done with my apprenticeship, but we'll see
-
I have noticed a bit of weirdness when adding items to the playlist.. generally the current playing item will shift to the bottom of the playlist and dragging anything upwards is not possible. not at all a huge issue just a quirk i wanted to report
-
This might actually be a WACUP quirk, as I'm not doing anything with how the Playlist Editor itself works in maki (i.e. no manipulation of the content is happening from my side)
It's better to report this to dro rather than to me
-
@calcium: what wacup build are you using?
-dro
-
my mistake, it does appear to be something more WACUP related, specifically regarding the modern skins, I could not reproduce with the classic skins.
currently I am using 1.2.6.8650
I no longer am seeing the issue regarding current playing track being sent downward in the playlist, but I do still notice that I cannot drag items upwards near the top of the playlist.
sorry for the confusion!
-
Have added it to the todo list to re-check for a later build.

-
Good news calcium, mirzi has finally gotten around to add the ability to hide the sidecar view! (We never really forgot)
It is in the latest commit that you can download on Github (https://github.com/0x5066/Winamp2000SP4/archive/refs/heads/master.zip)
I really don't know when v1.4 comes out, but I do know that it'll be the last.
-
I look forward to the release, Eric. The gift of your efforts do not go unappreciated, your skin is a vital and greatly appreciated element of my desktop aesthetic. Thank you for what you do my good man.
-
Hi Eris,
I'm a bit confused. Which modern skin are you the maintainer of? The one in this post or the one I provided the clip of in my post about the song length timer jitters. I installed this one (Winamp 2000 SP4 v1.4) and it also has the song length timer jitters.
In any case, lets give dro some time to look into the jitters issue (as I said in the other post) before you change anything. You did say in Post #27 above, that v1.4 of this skin will be the last.
@calcium,
Version 1.4 can be downloaded from Github and it contains the option (as shown above) to hide the sidecar in the playlist editor window.
-
Both, I've only been more active with Winamp Modern and at this stage, you could say that Winamp 2000 SP4 is in development hell, I know what I've got to do to be done with it but I can't really psyche myself back into this project (it's a few checkmarks left to handle that emulates how Windows Classic did them and some other stuff but it's far too complex and I just haven't been feeling at my best for quite a while now)
-
... I just haven't been feeling at my best for quite a while now)
I hope you feel better soon, if you decide to continue working on this skin or not.
-
Thank you :)
Yeah, I'll definitely work on this skin at some point again, the complexity of the issues presented is what's keeping me back, there's nothing definitive I can say, but the last release will come, eventually.
-
I see a bug or maybe an unfinished feature in version 1.4 of this skin.
The "Playlists" button on the main player window shows 2 commands when it is clicked on. The "Manage playlists..." command opens the playlists page in the ML. The "Media Library Smart View results" command lists the names of several smart views, but nothing happens when any of them are clicked on.
-
That isn't a skin issue as such but something I've not been able to track down why it sometimes fails against the core handling vs gen_ff & other reuse of the same menu ids.
