Hi this is my first post on the actual forums (I'm more active on the WACUP Discord :P ) and I wanted to share my edit of Ariszlo's update of Fusion AmpDeck.
This is WACUP Refugee v3
(named after XMMS's and Audacious' Refugee skin which is also based on Fusion AmpDeck)
It's features include:
- Video window
- Media Library (and other generically skinned windows)
- Browser window (Just cuz)
- Custom Mouse Cursors
- Special Repeat button that supports Manual Advance
- Custom Video logo (based on the current WACUPified base skin)
I honestly really enjoy this skin and I hope others do too. :)
Download: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1msns74dbliy-gkjmqBfhpD0CfnhrgFGe (https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1msns74dbliy-gkjmqBfhpD0CfnhrgFGe)
Also note, this skin won't work in normal Winamp as it uses .png images instead of .bmp
I've made a separate version specifically for normal Winamp, which is in the attachments along with the WACUP version.
Also there's no real version 2 (anymore at least)
The closest to v2 is the Winamp version of this skin.
Version 1 can be found here:

[edit]
Update: Edited the Equalizer's buttons to be more consistent with the rest of the skin
Changed: Downloads are now on google drive
-
Thank you for sharing this skin.
I particularly like dark skins with a blue color theme. This one fits in very well with my collection. :)
-
Yeah, yw :D
-
3.2 Update: Made new updated mouse cursors which I felt looked nicer. The original ones are a separate download so you can replace the new ones with them if you want to. :D
Also made a few other minor changes to the windows to make the close, minimize, and windowshade buttons a little more consistent.
Downloads are in the Google Drive link in the first post.
-
Update 3.3: Made a update to gen.png/bmp, and also added a new cursor for the Main Menu, support for Vidamp, Amarok, and the older AVS window, and while I was at it, I tested the Browser in the older Winamp version and it works fine too. :)
Here's what the new additions look like:
As usual, the downloads are in the Google Drive link on the first post. :D
-
Update 3.4: Changed the scroll/play bars to be lit when your dragging them instead of turning off, also updated the Equalizer's look a bit.
I've also now made special rebranded (and smaller sized) versions for Audacious and XMMS. :D
Download link is in the first post as usual.
-
So i've noticed the latest beta update includes a version number at the top of the preferences page, which made me notice I forgot to add the numbers in gen.png/bmp so that's what I fixed in update 3.5 today. :)

-
Looking good!
-dro
-
Thanks! ;D
-
Alrighty, I'm sure this is my final update for WACUP Refugee.
This is v4, with a new gen.png and gen_ex.png to more closely resemble Fusion AMPDeck along with updating the lil Winamp icon in the main window to be the WACUP logo.
Ofc, if you don't like the newer look, 3.666 (or 3.5 if you use the normal Winamp version) is still downloadable from the Google Drive link. :)
I had alot of fun editting this skin, and I'm happy to have shared it with you all. :D
-
Thank you for this last version (if it really is). If you do find something else to add or edit I won't hold it against you. ;)
-
Minor Update: It seems I forgot a part in pledit.txt that enables the numbers (for example, the version number in the skinend-preferences)
Just fixed that, update is in the usual spot. :)
-
Update 4.2: Edited the Clutterbar so there are letters next to the buttons (I got tired of hovering over them to figure out what they do) and also added a new version specifically for QMMP (including cursors, unlike the Audacious and XMMS versions. :) )
-
Thank you for the update. I don't use the clutterbar, so I'll stay with version 4.1.
I told you I didn't think you were done with this skin. Looking forward to your next update. :)
-
New minor update, edited the visualizer-art that's baked into the main window and that (currently) unused bit in the playlist-editor. :)
-
Update 4.5 (Winamp/Wacup): Fixed the minus sign when using Time Remaining mode. I rarely use the time remaining on the clock and didn't realize it was scuffed until now. That's fixed. :)
Update 3.8 (Linux variants): Forgot to give them the updated pledit.bmp and also applied the fix from above.
-
For a while now I've been working on a new version of Refugee, and I sort of forgot to say anything here
oops..
Well, I guess better late than never 😅
Now introducing Refugee DeClassified, based on Eris's DeClassified Modern skin!
A few features included are:
- Playlist and Main window visualizers can be set to different styles
- Winamp3-style Songticker
- 3 State repeat button (off, Repeat Playlist, and Repeat Track)
- Based closer to Winamp 5.666 & WACUP (Basically, a lot more tooltips and the Gen-Windows can be smaller in height.)
- 2 Different types of cursors (Though you have to change the folder name to use the older-style cursors I packed in. Sorry I was too lazy to code in a way to change them on the fly.)
As well as also featuring all those that DeClassified has.
You can find the latest version of Refugee DeClassified here, on Github :D
https://github.com/SameytheHedgehog/Refugee-DeClassified/ (https://github.com/SameytheHedgehog/Refugee-DeClassified/)
I might update normal Refugee with some of the changes I had made while making this variant, probably not soon though.
-
Thank you for sharing this skin. It is the only one I've seen where the playlist and main window visualizers can be set to different styles. Another plus for me is that it uses my favorite color theme.
-
You're welcome! ^w^
-
Hi Samey,
If it's possible, can you tell me how to get the playlist visualizer to be centered or moved a little more to the left?
-
Sorry, I don't have a setting in Refugee to center the playlist vis, I don't think DeClassified has one either
-

declassified doesn't provide that functionality in it's base, you can try to do
<script file="scripts/_wa2-easylayout.maki" param="pl.vis.area;0;0;1;0;0;0"/>
<script file="scripts/_wa2-easylayout.maki" param="waclassicplvis;0;0;1;0;0;0"/>
but i cannot exactly promise it looking right
-
Okay, thanks for the quick response. After using this skin for several hours, I noticed that the right edge of the visualizer is slightly covered by the player controls panel. I'm not a skinner and will need to learn how to make a maki before I can try your suggestions. My current skills only extend to making small xml file edits and graphic file modifications.
This skin is fast becoming my favorite. The only thing preventing that is up-scaling makes things blurry. I know there is nothing you can do about that. Maybe Microsoft (or dro) will come up with something to improve scaling.
-
Well, Eris did make a native 2x mode but it only works on the main 3 windows and breaks compatibility with previous versions of the skin.
I do hope it does become a option when we get our own version of gen_ff though :)

It took me a little time to realize you were suggesting edits for the "pledit.xml" file. I tried it and the pl vis went away entirely. The original numerical values are "350;0;0;0;0;0". I tried putting the "1" in different places, but the vis only came back (in it's original location) when I used "1;0;0;0;0;0".
I found the definition for the parameters in the "_wa2-easylayout.m" file, but I can't figure out how to use them to center or offset the vis more to the left.
Edit:
Ok, I finally figured it out. I returned the parameters in the lines you suggested to their original values. Then I changed the "x=" values in the lines shown below in the "pledit.xml" file. Now the vis is pretty much centered in the bar at the bottom of the playlist window. I have also used the resize control point on the bottom right corner to make the playlist window taller and wider than the default.
<layer id="pl.vis.area" image="wa2.pl.8.vis" x="-405" y="-38" relatx="1" relaty="1" cursor="cur.normal"/>
<group id="waclassicplvis" x="-403" y="-26" w="76" h="16" relatx="1" relaty="1"/>

I've edited pledit.xml as I stated in my previous post (reply #24), so the vis is now centered at the bottom of the expanded playlist window. If you're asking for a screenshot of how it was (with the slight overlap) then look at the screenshot in reply #16 at the top of page 2.
Another result of the change I made is that the left side of the box (that was overlapping the vis) containing the runtime for all the items in the playlist, the playback controls and the time counter for the currently playing item is no longer visible. This is barely noticeable and doesn't distract from the overall look of the playback window, imo.
If you want a screenshot of how the skin looks now, I can provide it.

Hi Samey,
I'm having an issue with Refugee Declassified. I don't know if the problem is with the skin's coding or WACUP's.
I decided to use the scaling command in the main player's context menu to upscale it to 125%. This is the largest size with an acceptable amount of blurring, imo. Unfortunately the change is not saved between sessions or when switching to another skin and back. The window's scaling returns to 100%. Fortunately, the main player's position relative to the skin's other windows is saved. So it only takes a couple clicks to switch the main player back to 125% and I don't need to re-position it.
If you can replicate this behavior, do you think the issue is with the skin or WACUP?
-
Hm, that's strange. :o I can replicate this on the DeClassified skins in general.
Tested with Winamp Modern and it saves the scaling just fine.
I think it might be something to do with the double-size button as it's saved when its pressed.
I'll tell Eris smthns up with the scaling, thanks for telling me. :)
-
you can sort of blame me for "breaking" the ability to save the custom scaling applied, this behavior comes down to emulating how winamp classic does doublesize scaling
i'm reading and saving a value related to it, so if the "D" button in the clutterbar was active/inactive, it'd call a function on skin load to apply proper scaling
i'd recommend reading DeClassified's readme (https://github.com/0x5066/DeClassified/blob/main/readme.md) to get a better understanding of why i do things that way (this also applies to other declassified based skins, however those may deviate from the classic skin formula, such as refugee declassified)
-
I'll keep it on a to-do list for Refugee. Thinking of replacing it with Winamp3's scaling menu button in some form.
Though I am aware that menu is prone to crashes, unfortunately.
-
Please don't add anything that is known to lead to crashes. It's a minor thing to change the main player window scale from 100% or 200% after the skin loads.
-
Alright, I won't add the Winamp3 scale menu inplace of the double size button.
I'll still look into making it a bit better though.
🤔 Maybe a custom right-click menu for it to change the size between 100% and 200% instead..
-
Isn't that the point of the window settings -> scaling menu so the skin doesn't really have to contend with any of this? Sure I get it's trying to do the classic thing but iirc modern skins normally just left it to the user selection so it's then kept consistent for what it actually is (really it should be feasible for it to all just work the same but that's not simple to do for now vs the core & gen_ff).
-dro
-
Yeah idrk to be honest. I want to keep the double-size mode button, but I also want to give people the option of the other scaling sizes too.
And also if I remove the double-size mode in the skin, idrk what I'd put in place of it atm.
-
...

How about a mute volume feature (which I've seen in other skins)?
-
I could add that as an R-click option on the volume slider, itd be strange to have it as part of the clutterbar imo
Edit: Actually on second thought, it wouldnt be that strange.
I'll look into it. :)
-
it would be a rather interesting replacement for the D button as it seems to only cause problems here (not that i am going to remove it from the base any time soon)
-
It's been a while since I've updated this. Been busy with loads of other projects and just haven't been able to work on this.
Finally got around to it though and it's finally up to date with the DeClassified base skin once more.
I've also added the original Fusion AmpDeck speakers (with some modifications visually) as a maki script! :D
(https://i.imgur.com/LqVSMuL.gif)
Here's the release on Github. :)
https://github.com/SameytheHedgehog/Refugee-DeClassified/releases/tag/1.20
-
Thank you for the new version. I especially like the animated speakers and their separate woofer, midrange, and tweeter responses.
-
Hmm.. I'll have to try this one out.
-
Finally finished up that Mute button replacement and also made the Winamp3 info optional. It defaults to the Classic Winamp2 info.
Also fixed a number of bugs related to the Speakers' mini-mode. ;D
https://github.com/SameytheHedgehog/Refugee-DeClassified
-
Thank you for the mute button replacement of the double size button. I hadn't tried the speakers mini-mode yet, so also thank you for fixing the bugs before I found them. :)
I did try up-scaling the speakers (by editing their configuration info in the studio.xnf file), but they look best at their default size.
I upscale the main player window to 125%. With all the previous versions, I had to redo the up-scaling between sessions. This version maintains the scaling between sessions. That is also a welcome change.
Somewhere along the way I missed the explanation of the differences between Winamp3 info and Winamp2 info. How do I switch between them?
Happy New Year!
-
oh to switch between the mix/bitrate stuffs, you right click the vis and select the Winamp3 mode.
DeClassified likes to keep all the modes there (like the title-bar font change option) so I wanted to keep it that way with Refugee.
I do think we should have a copy of the settings in options in the winamp/wacup menu though.
I'll look into adding that as part of the DeClassified base sometime in the future. Gotta figure out how that's done though. The browser might have something, as it appears there already.
Happy New Years to you tooo!!
Here's a visual to show the differences:
-
For all windows to follow the scaling, you can tick this box in the Modern Skins settings:
Never ever edit the studio.xnf to do it manually, even if you know what you're doing, you may still break it.
I'm not sure what is meant with "a copy of the settings in options in the winamp/wacup menu" and "The browser might have something, as it appears there already"...
-

The main context menu (right-click on any window's title bar) lists things that can be selected which affect how the app works. When you point to "Options" in that list, you get another sub-menu listing more things. Pointing to the "Browser" item in that sub-menu lets you list another sub-menu of items related to the browser.
Winamp/WACUP is full of context menus. You can right-click anywhere on anything and you often get a menu of choices related to what you right-checked on. This can be a good or bad thing depending on your point of view. I like having more than 1 path to get things done. However, it does take a while to learn where all the context menus are and what they do.

My configuration of WACUP beta version 1.8.18.14278 crashes as soon as I try to use Refugee-Declassified v1.30. I get a message telling me the x86 version (#14278) is not current and offering to update to the x64 version (#14282) of WACUP. That version is too incomplete for my needs.
Refugee-Declassified v1.30 worked fine with the previous WACUP x86 beta version configured the same way the current version is.
-
Latest seems to have problems with the more demanding modern skins. Classic Modern had crashing issues too, from what I heard on the Discord server.
I'd just use either classic skins or a less 'demanding' modern skin like Bento until the next build is released.
-
Wow, thanx for the quick reply. Who's Classic Modern and which version? The one I use doesn't cause a crash, but the window locations are not saved between sessions.
All the other modern skins I use don't have these issues. I'll wait to see what happens with the next beta release before reporting this to dro.

Build #14282 is an x86 only update & not an x64 build (which is still only at #14278). Build #14282 specifically fixes the modern skin related loading issues that #14278 had. If it's trying to install the x64 build then I'd need more details as I don't see that happening from the versioning details that the build is provided to download & it prompting to update to a newer build after a crash is intended to avoid me seeing a load of crashes from a build that's already been fixed.

I swear the one installed by default in Wacup was having issues, atleast it was for DrO. 🤔
That mightve been a while ago though, i dont pay attention to how long its been on things tbh.
Edit: oh I think it was only 14278 that had that issue. 14282 had fixed that.

It's been a while since I've updated the Classic Skin variants of Refugee, and while I was updating it for parity with Refugee DeClassified, I found a way I could combine both Winamp and WACUP variants into one. :D
What I did was, if I wanted WACUP specific elements, I'd have them in .png format while the rest of the skin would be in .bmp for Winamp compatibility.
Oh and the Linux variants got updates aswell. :)
You can find them all right here in this new DL link

I downloaded Refugee AmpDeck v5.0.wsz. It only has .bmp graphic files and the double size option is not replaced with a mute option. So which skin should I download to use with WACUP that has the updates to match the latest Refugee-Declassified modern skin.

I can only do so much with Classic skins, as such there is no mute button, and it's all in .bmp format (except for the Wacup specific graphics used for the Main Window) for Winamp compatibility.
If you want the mute button and other features of the DeClassified port, you'll have to use Refugee-DeClassified instead, there's just no way I can include the mute button and speakers (atleast, not without writing my own vis plugin, and that sounds like a bit too much work for me rn) in a classic skin.
You can still find Refugee-DeClassified on my github here :)

Ok, I understand. I was expecting too much when you stated you were updating the classic versions for parity with Refugee DeClassified. I'm content to wait for dro to resolve why the modern version is crashing WACUP build #14278.
EDIT:
I guess due to cross posting, I just noticed that x86 build #14282 was released to fix the modern skin crashing issue. I'll install it now and report back on if it fixes things.
-
It's alright, I probably should've said something like visual parity instead of just parity so there wasn't any confusion. :P
-
Hi Samey and dro,
Sorry for my disconnect on the current state of things. I can verify that WACUP v1.8.18. 14282 does fix the issues with modern skins (in the previous x86 build).
I misread this statement; "Latest restricted WACUP beta release is build #14278/14282 (January 23rd/24th 2023) (x86 & x64 changelogs)", at the top of the forum. I was thinking that build #14278 was for x86 and build #14282 was for x64.
Refugee-DeClassified v1.30 is again working correctly on WACUP. Refugee AmpDeck v5.0 is also working correctly on Winamp.
-
Nice, glad to hear they're working. ;D
