First impression and remarks on x86 WACUP
« on: December 26, 2025, 11:34:20 AM »
Hi everybody,

love to see the progress with this nice player. Thanks a lot !

My first impression: Small, fast and very known from the past. I use Bento skin so my favo is the 32 bit version.

WACUP v1.99.44.23410 (x86)
Fresh install on a Win11 PC (25H2)

Notices issues
- Media library: Column "Length" remains blank although the the length in MM:SS is sheon in playback widget (right left)
- Format Converter: Can not select MP3 encoder in settings, therefor no MP3 target format available on "Sent to: Format Converter".
- local library a bit confusing. Background process is not clear to. My audio files are stored on a NAS, access is no issue. Sometimes the library shows 19000 files, then 6000, then restart, again & again.

Any hints are welcome.
Love this player :)

Did you chose to add the folder(s) being imported to also be added to the folder monitor? As that may not play well with files from network shares & might be better to turn off that via prefs -> media library -> folder monitor unless you still want it to periodically check for new / removed files (iirc that prefs page allows for controlling if files will be removed or not). Dunno about the other 2 issues & will have to come back to that when I resume development after the holidays.

Thank you for your answer.
Don't worry. I don't expect an immediate path ;)

Yes, you're right. I enabled the monitring of a few folders. I'll check the new situation following your advise.

For the remaining please check it when you feel comfortable after the bank holidays.

Cheers

The missing mp3 encode in the drop-down should now be fixed when the post-release update is applied. It'll either appear as an OS toast or you can go to preferences -> about | updates -> about tab & click on the update button & allow the UAC prompt so the file copy can be applied.

"Automatically remove missing file(s)" was the option I was trying to remember as part of the Folder Monitor configuration or just un-checking the folder in the list at the top will keep it configured but not enabled.

I've so far not been able to replicate the length column in the local library views not being populated as part of a new install nor in my prior test installs so I'm not sure what's going on there.

Hi Dro,
have a good headstart in 2026!

I noticed that the missing MP3 encoder is now available after the post-release patch. Thanks for that.
I deleted the watch folder for the library and results are better now.

I have 32 and 64 installed on a stick to check differences. Works fine so far.
If I can help you let me know.

Cheers

I still can't replicate the missing length column issue that you've mentioned here & also mentioned again in the thread about vu meter issues which I've not seen anyone else report it. The only obvious thing since it seemingly can get that information is to run a refresh of the local library or just attempt to do it on a specific selection within one of the local library views & see if that makes a difference.

If it still doesn't make a difference when using 23518 (or a newer build depending on when this is seen) then I could do with a screenshot of the local library view showing what you're seeing (maybe the sizing of the column vs trying to reduce drawing of non-visible elements vs potential OS dpi related handling is conflicting) & a copy of the library.dat & library.idx files from the settings folder (preferences -> advanced -> diagnostics -> settings location tab will provide your paths). The library.dat/.idx files should be pm'd instead of posting here & depending on the size of them you might need to upload to some external hosting if they won't fit within the pm attachment size limits.

Oh. I read your explanation about the VU meter. That's noticed.
For the missing length column I'd like to be more precise of what I mean. Please have a look on the attached pic.
For your reference: I made a complete new installation and a new import of library.
