Latest restricted WACUP beta release is build #20202 (September 28th 2024) (x86 & x64 changelogs)

NOTE: Beta testers are added in a limited & subjective manner as I can only support so many people as part of the beta test program to keep it useful for my needs.

Unless I think you're going to be helpful, not all requests will be accepted but might still be later on. Remember that beta testing is to help me & the limitations currently works for my needs for this project.

a internal downloader
« on: August 04, 2024, 01:31:03 AM »
Not sure if this is possible or if anyone has talked about it, but a internal downloader where you can paste a link or just have a little search thing that allows you to search than download the song. Again not sure if it is possible or already integrated into the app as i have just downloaded it today and just started getting used to it transferring from using winamp for 2 years and having to deal with downloading from sketchy websites. sorry if this does seem stupid or anything else thank you

Downloading a song without paying for it is stealing. Search google for many ways to download songs with and without paying for them. For example, there are sites that let you paste a link to a you-tube video that will extract the audio from the video into a downloadable mp3 file. You get the song and the artist (others involved) who performed gets nothing. There are also sites where you can download songs for a reasonable fee and the artists (and others involved) get paid.

One could argue the YouTube feature in WACUP could also count as stealing, since the yt-dlp component downloads the video and plays it back (or only the audio if so desired) through WACUP (and from there you can then just rip the whole thing with the Nullsoft Disk Writer plugin).
IMO it's a grey area.
Frankly if you really want to support the artist, then the best way of doing it is by buying their CDs/digital copies.
Maker of Plugins, I suppose.

yt-dlp is not used to download the videos as I've detailed numerous times now - it's just there to obtain an appropriate http based url that can then be played via the rest of wacup which is how streaming playback works for anything out there whether it's got a fancy name on the tech nor not.

Hi dro,

I thought the Nullsoft Disk Writer plug_in only works with local files (converting formats and saving the result). Does it also allow saving streams WACUP is playing?

It depends on what the input plug-in(s) are reporting in relation to trying to use that output plug-in though it's already earmarked for removal.
