Portables, Syncing, Metadata
« on: December 08, 2019, 11:17:19 PM »
Ohhh boy it's me again. :O

So my old setup: Android phone (S9+ Android 9), connect to Win10x64 PC via USB C cable, a playlist is set to sync. Click sync, everything sends across, metadata is written, done.

Recently (hahaha which means what have I broken omg), when I do this, it says XXXXX songs are on device that aren't in the library, and YYYYY songs are in the playlist and not on the device - delete the ones on device, leave them, etc. When I look into it, there are XXXXX songs that have "No Artist". In WACUP itself, it certainly has this field (hence the YYYYY). If I sync it across, it will write it again as No Artist.

I thought it was the transcoding settings, but even songs that weren't being transcoded are being sent across with no metadata. I've tried just syncing straight to the sdcard to take the MTP protocol out of the mix, but it's still happening.

Any ideas?

EDIT: Oh and the weirdest thing is, because it's set to "<Artist>\<Album>\## - <Title>", it will actually write the Artist folder, the Album folder, then the track, but somehow not also write the metadata to the file itself. :(

I don't really have much to suggest as I've not directly touched the portables support so the only thing I can assume is that there's something else indirectly changed which is causing the issue.

Portables support is something that needs to be planned out as to how to best replace it but in all honesty, it's not something this high up on my priority list & I'll have to allocate some time now over the first few months of next year to see if there's anything obvious I can try to fix with the information the handful of plug-ins involved might be trying to use (this is one of those cases where source code would be helpful but is also why a replacement plug-in of some form is needed).

Thanks heaps. I'm at a loss too, as it is also now no longer reliably syncing, and will crash the app every couple of thousand tracks. I've presently decided to just autofill to a spare storage device I have, and will copy/paste that to my mobile device later, to reduce downtime. Sometimes a track will sync across with all data, sometimes without - so the number of tracks without Artist data rises and falls depending on how it's feeling. :/
